Lazarus has died again.

Back in August 2018, we shared the bad news that Plastiq transactions no longer coded as 3x with the Chase Ink Business Preferred card.

Greg subsequently shared his suggestions for alternative cards to use with Plastiq. If you decided to ignore those suggestions and continued using the Ink Business Preferred, that paid off as it subsequently started earning 3x again.

Well, bad news – at some point early last month, Plastiq transactions once again stopped coding as 3x on the Ink Business Preferred.

Transactions on May 5 still coded as 3x, but by May 8 they’d gone back down to 1x.

The dilemma now is deciding which card to use with Plastiq from now on. Greg’s suggestions still hold true, but changing to a different card might mean you miss out if 3x on the Ink Business Preferred card comes back to life.

If you use Plastiq frequently, it might be worth using a card that definitely earns rewards in excess of the transaction fee, but also using the Ink card every so often to test if it’s working again.

CIP gets 3X at Melio payment service. I was able to get first 3 bills fee free (up to $10K) too.

Ooh, nice find!

Can anyone confirm if CIP is still 3x on Melio? I was considering trying it.
