Update: Since this post was written, additional great offers have surfaced. Please click here to see every option.
The other day we reported on what I said was the best publicly-available offer I’ve ever seen on the Amex Platinum card. That holds true, but stop the presses: some people are finding that they are targeted for a 100K offer that includes the 10x bonus categories. Wowie zowie.
This version of the offer does not include the restaurant statement credits that we wrote about the other day (and that I shared more extensive thoughts about in this morning’s post). However, I think most readers would be happy to take the additional 25K points over $300 in statement credits (especially considering that using the Platinum card at restaurants comes at an opportunity cost given its low comparative return).
Unfortunately, I have not seen the offer above despite trying to see if any of my pile of decrepit past and present devices will pull it up.
As someone who works online, I use a lot of browsers, so it’s often a matter of chance as to which one I’m using when I check a link and look for an offer.
On the other hand, Greg did see it when he went to this page: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card/platinum/
And you don’t even have to ask…..you already know what happens next.
Note of course that most people will only see a 75K offer at that page (and that offer does not include the restaurant statement credits that we previously wrote about. If you want to find the offer that includes up to $300 in restaurant statement credits, you have to go through Resy. That is the application link you’ll find on our Platinum card page here.
The details for the targeted 100K offer are as follows for those who get targeted:
Special Offer for YouEarn 100,000 Membership Rewards® Points + 10x Points at U.S. Gas Stations & U.S. Supermarkets
Here’s how: earn 100,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $5,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership.†Plus, earn 10x points on eligible purchases on your new Card at U.S. Gas Stations and U.S. Supermarkets, on up to $15,000 in combined purchases, during your first 6 months of Card Membership. That’s an additional 9 points on top of the 1 point you earn for these purchases.†This offer may not be available if you leave this web page and return later.
Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.
If you are lucky enough to see this offer today, it is as close to a no-brainer as you’ll find in this hobby. See my post this morning for more on why (though note that this 100K offer has $300 less in statement credits).

[…] news spread of an amazing but targeted Amex Platinum offer. The offer is for 100K points after $5K spend plus the ability to earn 10X points at US gas […]
[…] have believed you. If you’d have followed that by telling me that some would instead see a targeted offer for 100K plus 10x back on $15K at US Gas Stations and US Supermarkets, I’d have laughed you out of the room. And so when someone told me yesterday that they say an […]
So I’m not able to pull up the 125k offer and I hit the link above for the 100k incognito and instant approval. Just got the gold card four days ago also.
Not sure how I feel about this, I have a LOT of grocery store spend in my future but I’m also laid off still.
Is it possible I’m having a drink right now because I’m happy I got the offer but sad I can’t go crazy with it? These are weird times…
This has the once per lifetime language, right? (can’t remember if I have had the card!)
Yes it does.
Thanks. I just finished listening to the podcast where you guys talk about it at the end as well. Amex reps confirmed via chat I haven’t had it.
You’re most likely good to go then, though I should note that chat reps have been wrong before. Not much more you can do to be sure though if you don’t have records.
Man that took a bunch of attempts over a few days. Finally got the 100,000 offer and approved! Sat – 7:24am Hawaii time. Firefox. No private but cleared cookies etc yesterday. Although no 100,000 yesterday in either reg or private. Glad to start earning MR. Been looking at the Gold for awhile. Happy that the Platinum 100K SUB became available. Happy Thanksgiving!
Sweet. Thanks! Saw this on DOC yesterday…and hesitated since been denied for Plat 75k before due to RAT warning. But thought, what the heck. Tried Firefox – only 75k. First time opening Chrome incognito – 100k. Applied..instant approval.
[Guess I should be happy I was denied earlier]
Maybe should have tried harder for the 125k…but hey…don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
Pleasant surprise. Either recent spending on cards has helped, or they’ve relaxed the RAT standards..
Too bad didn’t have it for a recent 1st Class Mexico trip on Delta…could have used the Sky Club. Next time perhaps.
Guess I know which card I’m using for gas/supermarkets this year!
6 months to meet $5,000…totally doable.
I don’t own a smartphone, so no use for Uber [Edit: looks like Uber can be used w/o!]
Now about that airline credit….
How did Greg get approved for Amex Plat sign up bonus? I’m sure he has amazing credit and is qualified and all – but I would have thought that he would have gotten the Plat card at some point already…
He addressed that in this morning’s post: https://frequentmiler.com/my-plan-for-maximizing-the-incredible-amex-platinum-offer/
I only had a 75k offer in prequalified cards, but got the 100k + 10x offer in the public list in Chrome incognito mode. Instantly approved.
I got the 125,000 offer too, and was instantly approved! And I took screenshots.
I do want to add that it was a pre-qualified offer. I saw the 100k offer at the top of the hour, and then clicked the “Check for Offers” button and then was offered the same 10x deal but with 125k points.
Amazing. Got a post scheduled.
Got the 100k offer to pop up in IE browser incognito after striking out on chrome on my phone, and Firefox. Had to do a bit of convincing for player 2 to get a Platinum (she’s stuck with $95 cards so far) and then to go for this offer rather than the Resy one.
You were right. Feel free to tell her I said that :-D.
Got the offer in incognito on Safari and instant approval.
For those of us that signed up yesterday will amex match from the 75k offer to the 100k offer?
No.
Any once per life time language in the offer terms?
Yup. The terms are quoted in the post and that part is in bold font right before the final paragraph of the post.
Duh! Thanks. I had skimmed the post.
Greg hasn’t had a personal Platinum in the past 7 years? That’s surprising.
We talk about this at the very end of the podcast this weekend.
[…] Uscreditcardguide reports that some are seeing this in their prequalified offers, and I see now in the Frequentmiler comments someone who apparently saw it even without prequal […]
