If you’re planning a trip to Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc. next year (or even if you weren’t previously), Air France has wide open award availability in business class when flying from Papeete to Los Angeles in March 2022.

The Deal

  • Book Air France business class from Papeete to Los Angeles for 9 or more people.

Quick Thoughts

When we say wide open availability, we mean wide open availability. Seat Spy shows there being 11 days in March 2022 where there are at least 9 seats available in business class (circled days are when there are 9+ seats available).

Needless to say, one option for booking these Air France flights is with Flying Blue miles. That can be pretty good value on the miles side as it’s only 64,000 miles one way, but the $292.36 in taxes and fees increases your out of pocket cost.

Another option is using Delta SkyMiles. That’s more expensive on the miles side as you’ll need to redeem 100,000 SkyMiles, but the taxes and fees are only $53.58 equivalent.

The downside with this is that business class award availability for the outbound flight is pretty much non-existent. There are economy flights from Los Angeles to Papeete on February 26, but there’s nothing else currently available in March.

If you’ll be booking with SkyMiles and don’t have status as high as Platinum with Delta, it could be worth booking round trip tickets starting in the US, departing in economy and returning in business class. That’s because you won’t get free award changes if only booking one-way tickets from PPT to LAX as free award changes are only for flights originating in the US.

I can’t imagine this kind of award availability will last for long, so it’d be best to book these sooner rather than later if you’re interested.

I’m sure these seats won’t be around long enough to plan this, but it would be cool to see an article pulling off a Round The World itinerary using something like AeroMexico points and using this PPT-LAX as the last leg to get home.

@debit. You have a screw loose. Seriously.

If you’re planning a trip to Tahiti, Bora Bora….

This makes no sense. Even if you were not planning a trip the business class award space would have still been wide open. What you were planning should have had no effect on whether air france opened its award space. These false dependencies are created by people that want to divert your attention to irrelevant points. Do not fall for this.

With a name like Debit, this doesn’t seem like the right site for you.

I’m with @debit. I cringe at that type of sentence construction.
