Rakuten is once again offering 10%/10x on IHG stays, but you’ll want to be quick as this increased rate might end today.
The Deal
- Earn 10% cashback or 10x Membership Rewards when booking IHG stays after clicking through from Rakuten.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Expiry date unknown (possibly September 28, 2022).
Quick Thoughts
IHG opened registration for their fall/winter promotion today, so if that promotion is enticing you to book a stay with them in the coming months, this increased portal rate on Rakuten is perfect timing.
The great thing about increased portal rates like this are that it doesn’t matter when your stay is. If you book a stay in December, you won’t earn cashback/Membership Rewards until after your stay, but the rate you earn at will be based on the 10%/10x rate if booking today.
Don’t forget to register for that new 2k or 10k promotion before making a reservation. Also check for IHG-related Chase Offers. There are definitely targeted offers for 15% back at Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza, but there might be targeted offers for other IHG brands too.
Interestingly, an IHG hotel that I booked yesterday for $143 is $161 today.
A question , why 10x is 10% when 1 amex is valaued at 2 cents i think
Value of Membership Rewards is subjective, so people don’t necessarily value them at 2cpp.
The reason it’s 10% or 10x is because earnings through Rakuten can be credited in one of two ways. You can either earn cashback or Membership Rewards. If you earn cashback, you earn 10% cashback. If your earning preference is set to Membership Rewards, you earn 10x Membership Rewards rather than 10% as such.
Agreed stephen
