It’s Travel Week on Rakuten this week which means they’re offering increased rates for a bunch of different travel sites. Some of the most notable deals are available when booking hotel stays.
The Deal
- Earn increased rates when booking travel after clicking through from Rakuten. Rates include:
- 10%/10x at Best Western
- 6%/6x at IHG
- 5%/5x at Marriott
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Expiry date unknown.
Quick Thoughts
10%/10x at Best Western is the best of the bunch here, although 5%/5x at Marriott and 6%/6x at IHG are great rates too, especially if your Rakuten account is set up to earn Membership Rewards rather than cashback.
Having said that, unless things have changed since I scheduled this post a few hours ago, TopCashback is still offering 9-11% cashback when booking IHG stays. If I was booking an IHG stay, I’d personally go for the 9-11% cashback from TopCashback (the rate depends on which IHG brand you book), but if you’re confident that you’ll get more than 1.5-1.83cpp of value when redeeming Membership Rewards, earning 6x from Rakuten could be the better choice.
Rates for some other travel sites have been increased on Rakuten too, such as 8%/8x at Viator, 6%/6x for Priceline (depending on the category) and more.
Rakuten is billing this as Travel Week, but there’s no guarantee that these increased rates will last all week. It might therefore be worth booking stays today to take advantage of these higher cashback/Membership Rewards rates in case they’re not as generous in the coming days.
Does the reservation need to be prepaid / does travel need to be completed before the offer expires?
No, it doesn’t have to be prepaid. Travel doesn’t have to be completed before the offer expires either – it just has to be booked while the cashback rate is still this high.
Great thanks Stephen!
