Quick Thoughts
IHG’s Accelerate promotions used to regularly affect my booking habits as they’d be rewarding enough to make it worthwhile moving stays to IHG. Over the last year though, my targeted offers have been less rewarding or have had more stringent requirements.
My tasks for their Q4 2019 promotion are shown above. While they’re potentially achievable, they likely won’t affect my booking behavior through the end of the year, especially because I didn’t receive an achievement bonus for completing most or all of the tasks.
For paid IHG stays, I always pay with my IHG Premier card anyway, so my fourth task will easily net me 1,500 bonus points. We live in hotels and tend to move every 5-6 days, so staying over weekends and having stays last 4+ nights isn’t an issue.
The task I’m less likely to complete is the first one – staying at four brands. We’re traveling with our dog, so we have to stay in pet-friendly hotels. Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites are always pet-friendly (as is Kimpton, but they tend to be too pricey for our budget), but the pet policy for all of IHG’s other brands depends on the property. That can make it harder finding a property we want to stay with a reasonable paid rate and a non-extortionate pet fee.
As another data point, here’s my wife’s offer:
In theory her offers are a little easier to complete, but not particularly enticing. Booking two stays through the app would be two stays where we wouldn’t be earning ~10% cashback through a shopping portal. Staying at two Holiday Inn brand hotels is unlikely, while I’d prefer not redeeming our points for Points & Cash stays.
Still, it seems like we got decent offers compared to some people commenting on the DoC post about this promotion. It looks like several people got an offer for ‘Stay 1 night & get 1,000 bonus points’ – that’s it!
Be sure to register for the promotion straight away even if you don’t have any plans to stay at IHG properties, just in case you make a reservation in the coming months that would earn you some bonus points.

What portal pays 10% at IHG?
It varies – the best thing to do is check Cashback Monitor. For example, here’s the Best Rate History for the Holiday Inn Brand https://www.cashbackmonitor.com/cashback-store/holiday-inn/best-rate-history/ It’s actually been a few months since 10% was available for that particular brand, but before that it was available through one portal or another at 10% or more most days.

Yeah, IHG has been cheap with my offers this year too.

My offer. Stay once get 1000 points.
Thats it. Why only this. Its ridiculous.
Not happy, especially because I will be staying in hotels a lot in september.
I feel like they know it as I already booked all my nights
I got a pretty decent offer with over 40,000 points and tasks I might be able to complete. My husband, on the other hand, got “double points” for all stays up to 40,000!!!!!!
Absolute rubbish. The worst so far. I’m a spire member and loyal as hell and they have given me 1 offer and it’s 1000 points for 1 stay. That’s it. How is that a loyalty promotion?!
Same here. I am also Spire Elite. Not happy at all with the offer. And I didn’t even get an email that there was a new accelerate. I had to find it myself.
Can we book now for stays in Sep – Dec?
Yes
Thanks, done it. Can get 62,000 bonus points and maybe can do it all on one 3-week trip.
What counts as a stay?
1) Paid only
2) Points and cash
3) Points only
4) Free award night from credit card
Some tasks specifically require a Points & Cash stay but other than that, only paid stays count.
Thank you. I assume you mean 1 and 2 above.
Correct

Do you have to book through the promotion page’s “Book Now” link to qualify? Or if you have pre-existing reservations is that enough?
No, you don’t have to use their link. In fact, it’s better not to as it means you can click through from a shopping portal to earn cashback.
Existing reservations will also be eligible provided the stays are during the promotion period itself.
thank you!
Seriously. I’ve never had it this rough.
My only offer is Stay once, earn 1,000 points.
Yikes.
Same as that. Absolute shocker
mine too
mine to so poor and im a Royal ambassador
Same here. Ridiculous
Same here! Not happy, I’ve started staying with my other reward program.
