Saving 22% has the potential to be a good deal, but it’d be worth checking other sites like Viator and Airbnb Experiences in case similar – or possibly even the same – experiences are bookable at a cost lower than Virgin Experience Gifts even with the 22% off.
There are hundreds (or possibly thousands) of experiences all around the country and the site makes it easy to search by state. Experiences are wide ranging, from food tours to zoo admission to sailing cruises to learning to fly and more. For example, in Gaithersburg, MD you can take a flying lesson where you take the controls for less than $100 by using the promo code.
As mentioned above, the promo code works not only on activities themselves, but on its own gift cards too. That could come in handy if you think you might want to book something in the future, or if you simply want to send one as a gift to someone else.
Due to the fact that the promo code works on gift cards, I suspect you can stack savings by using the promo code twice. Once by buying a Virgin Experiences Gifts gift card, then again when booking an experience and using the promo code while redeeming the gift card. That would mean you’d save a total of 39.16% (it’s not 44% as the second 22% is taken off the already discounted price). Update: AJ J has confirmed in the comments below that you can’t use a promo code when redeeming a gift card, so you can only save 22% once.
Virgin Experiences Gifts is on some shopping portals, so click through from one of those to hopefully earn rewards on the purchase too. There’s no guarantee that’ll work due to the promo code, but it’s worth a try nonetheless. Here are the current rates; as of today, TopCashback is far and away the best rate at 15.15% cashback. If you were to save 22% on a gift card and then subsequently book an activity with that gift card, hopefully the 15.15% cashback would track on both transactions. Let’s say you buy a $100 gift card for $78 and then book an experience costing exactly $100. If you did earn cashback on both transactions, you’d earn $11.82 on the first transaction of $78 and $15.15 on the second. That’s total savings/earnings of 49% which would be great if it does all work out.
