Every so often, Amazon offers targeted discounts when redeeming at least one bank point, such as 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards point, 1 Amex Membership Rewards point, etc.

A couple of those offers have returned. This time, if you’re targeted, you can save $10 on a $75+ order when redeeming 1 Discover point or get 30% off, up to a maximum of $15.

The Deal

Key Terms

  • This is a limited-time offer.
  • Amazon reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time.
  • Offer is available by invitation only, is non-transferable, is not redeemable for cash, and may not be resold.
  • Offer applies only to the purchase of at least $75 of eligible products, where Discover rewards is used for at least a portion of the purchase and the promotion is activated and applied at checkout.
  • Offer only applies to products shipped from and sold by Amazon.com or Amazon.com Services LLC (look for “shipped from and sold by Amazon.com” or “shipped from and sold by Amazon.com Services LLC ” on the product detail page). Products shipped from and sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
  • Offer does not apply to purchase of digital content.
  • Maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $10. Limit one promotion discount per Cashback Bonus® eligible card. Limit one promotion discount per Amazon.com account.
  • Offer may not be combined with other offers.
  • Shipping charges may apply to discounted promotional items.
  • If any of the products related to your original order are returned, subject to Amazon’s refund policy, you will receive a refund of the amount charged to your card first, followed by Discover rewards.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your original order. If any of the items in your original order are subsequently returned, your refund will equal the original price of the product, less the proportional amount of the discount. The total discount on the unreturned amount of your original order will then be less than $10.
  • Promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.
  • This promotion is available only to Amazon.com customers with a Cashback Bonus card issued in the United States.
  • Promotional discount is applied before shipping charges, taxes, and fees.
  • If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
  • Use Rewards at Amazon.com: For complete details on how to Pay with Rewards at Amazon.com see Amazon.com/DiscoverRewards. Amazon is not a sponsor of this promotion. To redeem your rewards at checkout, you must select the Discover Card from which you want to redeem rewards. If you do not pay for your full purchase with rewards, you may use the Discover Card from which the rewards were applied or an Amazon.com Gift Card to pay for the remainder of your purchase. You may not use another credit card in conjunction with the rewards transaction.

Quick Thoughts

There are often variations of these ‘redeem 1 point’ offers. My wife and I were both targeted for this offer, which gives $10 off a $75 spend, but there might be other versions, so it’s worth verifying the terms if you are targeted.

If you’ve never enrolled in the ability to redeem Discover points on your Amazon orders, you’ll need to do that first before trying to see if you’re targeted. Even if you’re not immediately showing as targeted after enrolling, check a few days later, as there can sometimes be a lag.

Something important to be aware of with these types of offers is that the items must be shipped and sold by Amazon. Given the abundance of third-party sellers on the site, it might mean that the items you want to buy aren’t eligible for the discount.

One of the easiest ways to take advantage of this type of offer is to buy a third-party gift card sold by Amazon. Those are both sold by and shipped by Amazon, and so you can take advantage of the discount when redeeming a Discover point. Amazon gift cards themselves aren’t eligible, but third-party brands are.

Although it’s less of an issue when redeeming Discover points than when redeeming transferable bank points, it’s still worth redeeming only one point at checkout rather than redeeming Discover Cashback Bonus for your entire order.
