eBay has several good gift card deals today. The most notable offers are probably on Hotels.com ($100 physical gift card for $89) and Best Buy ($150 gift card + $15 savings code for $150). eBay gift card deals make a great stack with this quarter’s bonus categories on the Chase Freedom Card as PayPal purchases earn 5x (on up to $1500 in combined purchases across this quarter’s bonus categories).

Quick Thoughts
These types of deals can be useful when you’re looking to save on things you would normally buy. Hotels.com gift cards are a good way to save if you prefer the simplicity of the Hotels.com rewards structure and/or book properties where you would not otherwise have elite status benefits. Keep in mind that we recently posted about how Hyatt Place properties will stop providing free breakfast for stays booked through third parties beginning November 1st, so if you plan to use your Hotels.com gift card towards a Hyatt Place be aware of that restriction (though $11 in savings plus an effective 10% back from Hotels.com likely mitigates the loss of free breakfast). If you’re able to further stack this with 5x on the Chase Freedom (PayPal is a bonus category this quarter), all the better.
If you’re buying the Best Buy deal, keep in mind that the $15 savings code expires 7/1/18. Be sure you’ll use it before then.

I booked at hotels.com for over $1K at an average gift card purchase of 20% off. I notify here about some deals but there is not any response. Now $89 for $100 is a thing???
How do you get the 10% back buying the Hotels.com gift card through eBay ?
I’m trying to work out the math for the Hotels.com cards in my head (and giving myself a headache, lol) but it seems this is only 1% better than using the Capital One card to get the 10% that way, correct? I’m trying to figure out a way if you could make it a full 20% (or really 21%) by using Cap One and these cards, but I don’t see anyway to do it (I’m not including the 10% from the 10 stays = 1 free stay in my calculations). At least by buying these cards you can use a different CC than Cap One (like your example for Chase Freedom) and possibly get better than the 2 pts/$ that Cap One gives.
