Quick Thoughts
Both of these offers are giving 20% back if hitting the exact spending thresholds, but in all likelihood you’ll end up spending a bit more than that. If your partner has the same offer on one or more of their cards and you’ll be spending $800 or $1,400, you can ask the hotels to split payment between two cards to earn two separate statement credits.
Seeing as these hotels are all linked, you can charge meals and other expenses from one back to the hotel you’re staying at which can help you reach the spending thresholds.
In case you missed the news last year, MGM Resorts ended its partnership with Hyatt and launched a new partnership with Marriott. This new partnership is underwhelming, but right now Marriott is offering 2,000 bonus points on 2+ night stays, plus an additional 2,000 bonus points per stay at MGM properties and an extra 2,000 bonus points if you’re a Marriott cardholder. I don’t know if these Amex Offers will stack with those Marriott promos though. That’s because the Marriott promos require that you book through Marriott, while these Amex Offers state that you have to book directly with MGM properties. However, if they’re not taking prepayment when making a reservation through Marriott, the statement credits from the Amex Offers should be triggered when making payment at the properties.
So would this work with FHR booking on amextravel you think?
It wouldn’t for the initial booking. However, if you use that card for room charges during your stay and hit the spending threshold for those charges, it should work.
