Several new Hyatt options in Manhattan (New York City) now bookable

Hyatt has added several properties to its footprint in Midtown Manhattan. If you’re visiting New York City as a tourist and you want to be close to things like Broadway theaters and/or Central Park, these could present excellent new options.

Newly bookable World of Hyatt options

We’ve seen three new Hyatt options pop up in the app over the past couple of weeks, but it still seemed worth reporting for those who aren’t frequently searching Hyatt stays in New York City. The following hotels are now bookable with World of Hyatt points:

  • The Chatwal: Category 8 (35K off-peak / 40K standard / 45K peak)
  • Dream Midtown: Category 6 (21K off-peak / 25K standard / 29K peak)
  • The Time New York (jdv): Category 6 (21K off-peak / 25K standard / 29K peak)

All three properties could be interesting options, though on the dates I have checked, Dream Midtown and The Time look to be better deals at cash rates than with points. That’s not to say that they might not be great options when looking for a cash stay though since both are pretty reasonably-priced considering their respective locations.

The red dot is Dream Midtown and the other two stopping points are The Time New York and The Chatwal. All three are very well-located for a tourist visiting New York City.

Stephen had inquired about using a suite upgrade award at Dream Midtown and was told that the suite they use for those using an upgrade award is the One bedroom King Suite Platinum for those interested. He was also able to verify that parking is free for Globalists on award stays. Again, it isn’t always a great value on points, but free parking certainly makes a difference for me when I’m visiting NYC since I drive down to the cty.

The Chatwal was long an SPG property (and then Marriott). I’ve been in the lobby but never stayed. It certainly looks nice. Is it nice enough to justify 45K points per night? I couldn’t say, but I’m sure that some will be happy to have a new luxury option.

The Time New York is a joie de vivre property, which could certainly be useful for some credit toward a brand explorer free night award. I’m not sure where Dream Midtown fits under the brand explorer umbrella, but given its location basically around the corner from the Park Hyatt New York, the Conrad New York Midtown, and many other highly-rated Midtown Manhattan properties, I imagine it will be popular at least for paid stays (while rates are on the lower end).

I look forward to getting a chance to check one of these out at some point after I complete the current Globalist challenge, but that probably won’t happen until sometime later this year. If any readers have stayed at any of these properties recently, we’d love to hear about your experience in the comments.

Any idea when the Chatwal lodge will accept points reservations?

Michael

The Grayson is probably the best bet for a value Hyatt stay in NYC these days. Thompson CP a close contender if you’re willing to spend a bit more points. I liked the Beekman for its character though it’s a bit dark and the location’s near Wall Street.

Not one of these, but I just noticed Hyatt house Times Square is available for 20k points. Not sure if tats a good value or not.

Brutus

Unfortunately this decreases the number of locations without a Hyatt of any type by zero.

Also increases the places to use a cat 1-4 cert in NYC by zero.
