Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping portal promo: Earn up to 2K bonus points

0

The Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping Portal is out with a new promotion to earn up to 2,000 bonus points with qualifying purchases. While that might not be enough to really move the needle on a prospective purchase, you should nonetheless consider the potential bonus points when comparing your shopping portal options.

The Deal

  • Southwest Rapid Rewards shopping is offering bonus points for meeting the following purchase thresholds from today through 9/18/24:
    • Spend $100+, earn 400 bonus points
    • Spend $350+, earn 2,000 bonus points
  • Direct link to this deal

Key Terms

  • During the “Fall Bonus” offer, which runs from September 9, 2024 at 12:00 a.m. ET through September 18, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Bonus Period”), Rapid Rewards Shopping® Member will earn a one-time bonus of up to 2,000 Rapid Rewards® bonus points on qualifying purchases, in addition to the standard Rapid Rewards points earned from shopping online through Rapid Rewards Shopping.
  • “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card, or other cash-equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus points. Please see the Rapid Rewards Shopping site for details on product eligibility and other restrictions.
  • This one-time bonus award will be determined using one of the following tiers, based on Member’s cumulative qualifying purchases made during the Bonus Period:
    • Tier one bonus: Earn 400 Rapid Rewards bonus points for qualifying purchases of $100-$349.99;
      or
    • Tier two bonus: Earn 2,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points for qualifying purchases of $350 or more.
  • Please allow up to 10 weeks after the Bonus Period for Rapid Rewards bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards account.
  • The Tier two bonus provides the maximum number of points that will be awarded to an eligible Rapid Rewards account.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Quick Thoughts

At the high end, this bonus will get you an additional 2,000 points when you spend $350 in total across shopping partners. If you were to spend exactly $350, that’s like an additional 5.7 points per dollar spent over what you would earn without the bonus. When comparing portal rates, it therefore makes sense to consider those extra miles in your total earnings for the purchase.

Keep in mind that while Rapid Rewards points earned from the purchase itself will count toward the Companion Pass, the additional 400 or 2,000 bonus points earned through a promo like this do not count toward the Companion Pass.
