Southwest is running a limited time offer giving 25% off base fares when using promo code J4SAVE. There are some restrictive terms though as you have to book by this evening (May 17) and it’s only valid on select flights on July 3-7, 2023.
The Deal
- Save 25% on Southwest base fares when using promo code J4SAVE.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- 25 percent promotion code savings valid for one-way or round trip Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares booked on Southwest.com from May 16-17, 2023 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (the “Booking Period”) and flown between July 3-7, 2023 (“Travel Period”).
- Promotion code savings are applied before government taxes and fees.
- Enter promotion code J4SAVE in the Promo Code box when booking during the Booking Period.
- Offer is valid only for select continental U.S. flights.
- Seats and days are limited.
- If you have entered the promotion code J4SAVE in the Promo Code box on Southwest.com or swabiz.com during the Booking Period, then while selecting your flights, savings in the base fare will be visible as a strike-through of the original fare on eligible flights.
- Discount availability may vary by destination, flight, and day of week, and won’t be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday periods.
- Please note that the Department of Transportation (DOT) requires advertised fares to include all government taxes and fees; however, this promotion applies to the base fare only.
- Discount is valid on new reservations only.
- Discount will apply only for select flights booked within the Booking Period while supplies last for travel flown within the Travel Period.
- Changes made to the itinerary after purchase will eliminate qualifications for this promotion and will result in forfeiture of any promotion code savings.
- The discount is only valid with the provided promotion code and is not combinable with other promotion codes or fares.
- All reward travel is subject to taxes, fees, and other government or airport-imposed charges of at least $5.60 per one-way trip. Applicable taxes, fees, and other government or airport-imposed charges can vary significantly based on your arrival and departure destination.
- The payment of any taxes, fees, and other government or airport-imposed charges is the responsibility of the Passenger and must be paid at the time reward travel is booked with a credit card, flight credit, Southwest gift card, or Southwest LUV Vouchers.
- Fares are subject to change until ticketed.
- Offer applies only to published, scheduled service.
Quick Thoughts
It’s hard to tell how useful this promotion will be for travel around July 4 because Southwest hasn’t provided a list of eligible routes. When doing a random search for ORD-LAX on July 5, no discount was offered on any routes. However, when searching BWI-ORF two of the four flights that day have the discount applied:
The nice thing about these types of sales is that they’re valid on both paid and award flights. Here’s the same route and dates when booked with Rapid Rewards points:
Southwest’s website seems to enjoy throwing up error messages with this sale, so be persistent. When clicking the ‘Points’ tab after checking out the cash pricing for the above route, it gave me the following error message:
However, when running the search again it displayed the results correctly. I also got that same error message on every search I was running until I turned my VPN off, so that’s something else to consider if you’re having the same issues.
If this deal works for you, remember that you need to book by tonight (May 17).
Wow for as many emails Southwest sends out on flight and vacation deals that aren’t much of a deal they didn’t send me anything on this one. Pretty disappointed we have travel booked for 7/5 on LUV and might have been able to save some points.
Perfect timing. I have a flight to Sarasota during that time. Just rebooked and got refunded $25.
