Southwest has launched a sale on tickets to and from Hawaii, giving 40% off when using promo code HAWAII2022.
The Deal
- Save 40% off base fares when booking flights between the US and Hawaii and interisland Hawaii and using promo code HAWAII2022.

- Book by October 7, 2021 for travel from January 6 to March 9, 2022.
Quick Thoughts
This has the potential to be a good offer as 40% off base fares is a substantial discount provided the fares weren’t inflated beforehand. Southwest award pricing is based on the cost of cash tickets and this promo works on flights booked with Rapid Rewards points, so award flights will be cheaper too.
If you have existing reservations to Hawaii for early next year, it’d be worth pricing out how much it would cost you now and rebook if it’s any cheaper.

Be sure to shop around. From the Bay Area, every date I’ve checked United, Alaska, and Hawaiian all have fares that match the cheapest Southwest “sale” fare on that day. (Basic Economy for UA/AK.)
But do they allow 2 bags at no charge. That was the big seller for us because we could pack our canopy, snorkel gear, food to bring and all the clothes. Usually those airlines with their baggage fees end up being more expensive than SWA. I could be totally wrong. I just forget about baggage fees when I see those initial cheap prices.
From the east coast, $174 to Maui is extremely cheap. Very jealous of West coast fares.
