Spaweek.com is offering a $75 bonus card with $75 spend with code 75MOMS75. That sounds nice, but the marketing is pretty misleading: the $75 “bonus card” is only valid through the end of July. It’s hard to know whether or not you’ll even be able to use that bonus card by then (for several reasons), so I will not be purchasing one of these (much to my wife’s dismay if she reads this post). But I thought it was worth covering here both because some can take advantage and so some aren’t taken advantage of.

Quick Thoughts
As noted at the top, I found this deal disappointing. It initially sounded great — spend $75 and get a bonus $75. Half off a massage sounds like my kind of price to treat my wife for mother’s day.
And the marketing makes it sound pretty good. Check out that line under the picture:
The gift card never expires. But that $75 bonus card sure does:
*All bonus cards expire on 8/1/20. Bonus card shall be emailed within 24 hours of purchase. Check your SPAM folder. One per household.
I found myself cringing at this deal: with spas closed in many states at the moment and restrictions unpredictable in the coming months, it is hard to know whether or not your local spa will even be open in the next month or two. Assuming it is, you then need to be able to get an appointment at a time that suits your schedule. If you’re looking for a weekend, there are just 12 weekends between now and the expiration of the bonus card (here in my home state of New York, likely fewer since I don’t think spas are currently open). Expiring on the first day of August is a clever way to make it sound like the card is valid longer than it is — “oh, it expires in August“. Not really. The last day you can use it is in July.
Perhaps I’m being too hard on the marketing department, but it seems like a nice idea (a discount for a mother’s day gift that mom will appreciate that doesn’t require you going to the store this week) but it is much less generous than it sounds. Of course, for those who are in position to be able to take advantage, half off could be a great deal.
That’s just silly. They’re (hopefully) bound to extend this until salons open. Will be taking advantage of this offer. Thanks.
You would think that, but then you’d think that they wouldn’t launch a promo during a pandemic that requires you to use half of it during a pandemic. It seems like they chose an expiration date knowing the situation, so I wouldn’t count on them extending it. Hopefully they will, but I wouldn’t buy banking on it. If you can buy local spa GCs as Greg notes above, it’s a no-brainer.

Crazy, but I might do this. A spa that I go to lets me buy their gift cards with Spa & Wellness gift cards. And they’re running a gift card promo themselves right now so this could end up being far better than half off.
You can also juice the deal a little by buying through a portal.
Boom. That would make it a great deal.
but how will oyu buy their gift cards if they are closed? \_(”)_/
They’re open for selling gift cards only
