American Express has released a new offer for purchases at Staples. I can tell you this offer will be very popular and most likely won’t last long. Let’s take a look.
The Offer
Get a one-time $20 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $100+ in one or more transactions in-store at Staples or online at staples.com by 12/31/2015.
Key Terms
- Valid in-store and online.
- If you order an item during the offer period but it is not sent until after 12/31/2015, it may not count towards determining whether the purchase qualifies for the offer.
- Not valid for e-gift card purchases.
- Valid at any participating location in the US.
- Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US. Excludes Online catalog purchases, Quill, Smilemaker, Staples Business Advantage, Staples 4 Government, Staples Toner Services, Staples Technology Solutions, Staples Promotional Products, Staples Print Solutions, Copy and Printing Services, Staples Contract and Commercial, Staples App Center, Staples Industrial, Staples Book Rental, Staples Simplexity.
Offer Availability
This offer was available on all of my cards on the American Express website. As of now there isn’t a working Twitter hashtag, but that may change since this offer has gone live rather late in the evening. I highly suggest registering as soon as possible as these deals seem to reach their limit rather quickly.

This seemed to have worked for me for electronic gift cards for lowes and home depot and sears–just for future reference you do not have to get the physical gift cards and pay the surcharge.
[…] is back at Safeway right now. Staples has a 20% discount on Gap gift cards AND there’s an AMEX Offer for $20 off $100 at Staples. Everyone is selling or wanting to sell Gap gift cards! The discount is high and the payout is low. […]
Missed out again.
If you did not see it, it does not mean you were not targeted. I think the offer reached its maximum and then did not show up on anyone’s account anymore. If you checked after the offer was full, you may have missed it. I got up early and got some of my cards but not all of them–as they were gone too fast. every card had the offer except the costco amex.
I seriously hate it. I am never ever targeted for the only two AMEX cards I have. I will be so happy if i could get it on just one of my cards. Is there a way to get targeted offers like this? Would using my card at Staples help for future offers?
I’ve never used my cards at Staples, so I don’t think that’s it. Also, none of my wife’s cards had the offer, yet we have the same cards. I use hers and mine fairly interchangeably, and she rarely uses them herself so the spend profile is relatively similar. They must pull in data from other sources for their offers.
I don’t see them.
I can’t believe how lucky you guys are. NONE of our 30 plus cards had it. None…
that’s because the offer was limited. they ran out.
I added them this morning to all 5 of my cards and bought $300 Visas on 4 and received the confirmation email that I’d used the statement credit for all 4.
Gone on my logins. I woke up and looked through my offers on my app. All of my cards had it. The last one I checked the blue circle said “45 left” instead of “$20 back”. Raced to my computer (best way to wake me up at 5am ;)) and now gone. Hopefully a hashtag today but if they’re gone from being loaded to accounts, then I’m guessing we won’t see it show up again.
DEAD!
Woo-hoo! 3/3. It was on my 3 Amex cards: SPG personal, SPG business, Platinum.
