Quick Thoughts
Many of you will have opened a SoFi Money account 2-3 years ago when they were offering generous referral bonuses for both the referrer and referee.
If you don’t already have a SoFi Money account though, this is an easy way to earn $175. From what I can remember of the signup process back then, it only took a few minutes to open an account. All you then need to do is make a $200 direct deposit to earn an almost equivalent amount of cashback from Swagbucks, Upromise or MyPoints.
Note that the terms state that the $200 has to be both a direct deposit and that it has to be your first deposit. It’s therefore important to not make any other kind of deposit into the account until that direct deposit hits.
Although the terms don’t state you need to leave the $200 in the account for the 32 days while the award pends, it’s probably not a bad idea to leave it sitting in there for that long just in case.

How do Swagbucks, Upromise and MyPoints work? Never heard of those. Is it really cash what you get from them? Any advantages of one over the others?
Swagbucks and MyPoints earn points which can be redeemed via PayPal and so it’s as good as cash.
Upromise is, in theory, meant to be for saving for college. However, they don’t require that and you can get the cashback you earn paid into your checking account rather than a 529 account.
I used to use UPromise a lot back in the day, but they were NOTORIOUSLY bad at tracking purchases. I had to keep a list of everything I purchased and all of my receipts and usually had to wait I believe 90 days before submitting missing claims. It became too much work – this was several years ago, I hope they have improved since.

Would you mind sharing what the all time high bonus was?
I think the highest bonus when being referred was $100, but when many people signed up was when they offered $50 for signing up but also gave $100 when referring other people.
