With most credit cards, the primary cardholder is the one who automatically reaps all the rewards for spending put on their card(s).
An exception is the Citi® / AAdvantage Business™ World Elite Mastercard® for a couple of reasons. One is that the American Airlines AAdvantage miles aren’t automatically credited to the primary cardholder.
The other is that Loyalty Points earned from spending on authorized user cards are awarded to the authorized user rather than the primary cardholder. However, there’s a targeted promotion that enables both the authorized user and primary cardholder to double dip on the Loyalty Point earnings.

Quick Thoughts
As mentioned earlier, spend placed on authorized user cards of the Citi AAdvantage Business card accrues both AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points. The AAdvantage miles go into what’s effectively a central bank and can be divvied out by the primary cardholder. However, the Loyalty Points on the authorized user cards are awarded to the authorized user’s American Airlines AAdvantage account.
What this targeted promotion does is award Loyalty Points to both the authorized user and the primary cardholder. If you’re the primary cardholder and you’re targeted for this offer, that’s a potentially superb earning opportunity, especially if a lot of the spend on your card account is made by the authorized user because it means that two of you could earn status with American Airlines for the price spend of one.
What I’m curious about is if it’s possible to earn double Loyalty Points on the same AAdvantage account in the event that the primary cardholder also makes themselves an authorized user, perhaps for budgeting reasons. On the one hand you’d think not, but this is Citi so….
This offer has been around since the start of the year, but One Mile At A Time has noted that it’s been renewed for another year. It’s not clear if a different round of cardholders have been targeted, but it’s worth trying to register if you do hold an eligible card.
