Almost a year ago Delta teamed up with Starbucks to offer reciprocal earnings. You can earn double stars on days you travel with Delta, while also earning one SkyMile for every $1 you spend at Starbucks.

They’re currently running a new (and somewhat targeted) promotion giving 1,000 bonus SkyMiles when ordering from Starbucks two or three times within a week after registering.

Delta Starbucks partnership 1,000 bonus SkyMiles

The Deal

  • Earn 1,000 bonus SkyMiles when visiting Starbucks 2 or 3 times in one week. This unlocks an offer to then earn 1,000 further bonus SkyMiles when visiting Starbucks 3 times in one week.
  • Direct link to registration – visit 3 times.
  • Direct link to registration – visit 2 times.

Key Terms

  • SkyMiles Members who have linked their SkyMiles account and Starbucks Rewards account and (i) enroll for this Starbucks offer between August 23, 2023 and September 12, 2023, and (ii) within one week from enrollment, make three (3) or more Qualifying Purchases of at least $2 USD (excluding taxes and gratuities) in the same week at a Participating Starbucks Store will earn 1,000 bonus miles.
  • “Qualifying Purchase” means any purchase at a Participating Starbucks Store of food, beverage(s), and/or merchandise, excluding purchases of alcoholic beverages, Starbucks Card eGifts and physical Starbucks gift cards (“Starbucks Cards”).
  • Qualifying Purchases must be made (a) using a linked payment method or preloaded Starbucks Card registered to your Starbucks Rewards account, or (b) by scanning your barcode located in the Starbucks mobile app prior to completing checkout.
  • “Participating Starbucks Stores” are Starbucks locations where a Starbucks Rewards member can earn Stars (as defined in the Starbucks Rewards Terms of Use).
  • Miles will be deposited into your SkyMiles account within 10 business days of completing the offer. Miles are bonus miles and do not count towards Medallion Status or Million Miler Status.
  • Benefits pursuant to this offer are limited to individuals who (a) have enrolled as members of both the SkyMiles program and Starbucks Rewards program and (b) linked their SkyMiles account and their Starbucks Rewards accounts on DeltaStarbucks.com (a “Linked Account”). You can only link one Starbucks Rewards account with one SkyMiles member account.

Quick Thoughts

I received an email about this offer today, although my wife didn’t. That’s presumably because my SkyMiles account is already linked with my Starbucks account, whereas my wife’s isn’t (we just use the same Starbucks account).

This offer is therefore targeted in that way, so if you’ve not already linked your Starbucks and SkyMiles accounts, you’ll want to do that first before trying to register for either one of these promos.

These offers have an additional level of targeting. The landing page for the offer I was sent is https://www.delta.com/us/en/skymiles/promotions/starbucks-3. The ‘3’ on the end had me curious – had there been two previous offers? I adjusted the ‘3’ to a ‘2’ and sure enough, a different promotion was displayed. At first I thought it was exactly the same promotion until I realized that the requirements for that offer were that you only needed to visit Starbucks twice rather than thrice. We don’t visit Starbucks much, so the chances of us visiting three times within the next week were low, so I tried registering for the offer where you only have to visit twice. However, it said that I wasn’t targeted for the ‘visit twice’ offer, so I just enrolled in my original offer instead on the off-chance that we do happen to visit three times in the next week.

Side note: when clicking the registration button on the landing page it was giving me an error message when trying to log in to my account. To get around this, I went to Delta.com directly and logged in, then clicked the registration link and it enrolled me without an issue, so give that a try if you have a similar problem.

Update: Several readers who’ve already completed the offer have shared that doing this unlocked a second offer giving an additional 1,000 bonus SkyMiles when making three further purchases at Starbucks within a week.

Hmmm my miles never posted from this…

Mark R.

I bought a cookie on 2 days ($2.75 x 2 + tax = $5.83) and got 1,000 miles that I value at $10, so I earned $4.17 plus got two cookies!

I signed up, went to Starbucks, and made 2 separate purchases during the same visit. Not only did I get a confirmation email shortly after saying I completed the challenge (I was targeted for 1K miles after 2 visits), but I was then immediately re-enrolled for another 1K miles after 3 visits within the next week).

Thanks. I wondered if twice in the same day would work. I usually do that when in a Starbucks area (I’m over an hour from the closest.) I discovered last week that my Americano purchase at Starbucks CityWalk Orlando didn’t work for the promo I had. The digital receipt didn’t specify what I’d ordered and the cup with the sticker, of course, was trashed before I’d realized I might need proof.

Thanks, Stephen! Just enrolled via the 2 visits link!

Sinosoul

I have NO IDEA why i just enrolled. Haven’t had coffee from starbucks in maybe 20 years. FM effect, I guess.

Already had my starbucks linked with delta. Never received an email. But… tried out the visit twice link, and successfully enrolled!

I got the 2 visit offer right after I visited Starbucks. I can’t tell if today’s visit will count or not but I don’t have a problem making an extra visit. I think I saw in the terms somewhere that if I complete the 2 visit offer I might be targeted for an additional offer.

TravelGeek

“Delta may, at its sole discretion, provide an additional offer to the individual SkyMiles Member after completion of the first offer (such additional offer being the “Second Offer”), where if the Linked Account member within one week from enrollment in the Second Offer makes three (3) or more Qualifying Purchases of at least $2 USD (excluding taxes and gratuities) in the same week at a Participating Starbucks Store, such Linked Account member will earn 1,000 bonus miles.”

This gives me a headache. Maybe I need some coffee to understand it.

TravelGeek

Ok, I “unlocked” the bonus offer after completing the original offer:

Collect another 1,000 bonus miles when you visit Starbucks 3 times in one week. You’re automatically enrolled, and your second one-week countdown starts now. Finish your visits by 08/31/23 to earn your 1,000 bonus miles.”

I didn’t see an email about this ‘targeting’ me. But my delta acct was already linked to starbucks. I used your link to register and it seems to have worked.

I received the 2 times version as did my wife. I didn’t try activating it yet, though, because I’m not sure whether I want to start the “one week clock” now or wait a bit.
