Quick Thoughts
Marriott tends to target different members with different offers, so even if you’re not able to register for the specific promotion that I was targeted for, it’s worth checking the main Promotions page in case there’s a different – and potentially even better – offer.
With regards to my offer, earning 1,500 bonus points on my first paid stay and 3,000 more on my next paid stay by the end of February isn’t a massive reward. However, I am finding myself tempted by it. That’s not due to the limited rewarding nature of it, but that – combined with a couple of other factors – might be helping move the needle a little in favor of a couple of upcoming bookings I need to make.
I have two separate one night stays that I need to book for stays next month. My plan had been to book them both with Wyndham to take advantage of both the opportunity to earn 50x, as well as 15,000 bonus points (7,500 for two nights plus 7,500 for being a cardholder). Those nights would cost me ~$125, so that would be an excellent return on the spend for nights that I actually need (rather than it being a mattress run).
However, I could alternatively book both stays with Marriott. I’d earn a total of 4,500 bonus points from this promotion, as well as 4,050 from their separate promo offering 2,025 bonus points per stay (I don’t think my locations would be eligible for the additional 2,000 bonus points per stay for Outdoors locations). That’s 8,550 bonus points in addition to regular earnings.
That’s not a ton of bonus points, but there’s an extra complicating factor. I currently have 41 elite night credits with Marriott and am on course to have 47 by the end of the year. If I booked those two extra nights with Marriott, that’d be 49. I’d therefore only need one more night to hit 50 nights and thus earn a Choice benefit where I could select five Nightly Upgrade Awards that I could redeem next year.
A few things are giving me pause though. One is that I’m not sure if I would get any use out of the Nightly Upgrade Awards before they expire. Another is that I’d still need one more elite night credit before the end of 2025 which would likely require a one night mattress run, thereby limiting the points upside. The third factor is that the stays with Marriott would be a bit more expensive than the Wyndham stays.
In fact, writing all this out has made me realize that booking the stays with Wyndham makes far more sense, even if it does mean forgoing the Nightly Upgrade Awards. Still, for other people this kind of promotion – added to Marriott’s global promotion – could make booking one or two Marriott stays more worthwhile.

I just checked my account and my offer is specific to stays that include a Friday or Saturday night – 4K after the first, a further 6K after the second, and a further 8K after the third. I already have two qualifying stays booked for work, so when stacked with the 2025 bonus points per stay, I’m looking at an extra 14,050 points, which I’m not upset about.
