Quick Thoughts

There are several different targeted offers out there. Some of the ones we’ve seen include:

  • Earn 3K bonus miles with $1K spend or 8K bonus miles with $3K spend
  • Earn 8K bonus miles with $3K spend or 13K bonus miles with $9K spend
  • Earn 10K bonus miles with $4K spend or 15K bonus miles with $10K spend

Interestingly, the best earning ratios are for the lower spending thresholds with each of the above three offers, with the return on your spend getting worse the more you spend. If you’re targeted for one of these offers, you have to select which of the two spending thresholds you want that you’re targeted for. Once you’ve made your selection, it can’t be changed. Update: Readers have shared in the comments below that you don’t have to make a selection as to which threshold you want to aim for.

I got the 8/3 and 13/9 one. This damn card, I swear they always have some promotion either for something like this or getting triple miles at grocery stores/gas. It’s not a card I would normally spend on and would like to take out of my wallet, but as soon as one promotion ends another begins and I have to keep putting spend on it. Well, I guess that shows that these promotions work!

I have two UAL Chase cards, but neither were deemed eligible.

My offer for this one was 2000 miles for $1k spend or 7000 miles for $3k spend (January through March).

Last month I received an additional (more confusing) offer titled “Months of Miles”, which was for 750 extra miles per month if I spend at least $500 in Dec, Jan or Feb, and a further 1500 miles if I spend $500 in each month (so 3750 miles total).

John

Nothing on my United Quest or biz cards.

I’ve had some not very appealing offers in the past, but this sounds pretty good: “Just use your card to spend $1,500 or more per month in January, February and March. Then you’ll earn 3,000 bonus miles each month. Earn an additional 4,500 bonus miles if you reach the goal in all three months. That’s a total of 13,500 bonus miles.”

Aaiga

My United Business Card is not eligible…. bummer

gary

5,000 miles for $2 k spend or 10 k miles for $6,000 spend

Melissa | The Family Voyage

Confirming Paul’s data point, no need to select which of the two thresholds to target 🙂

DP: mine is 10,000 miles for $27,000 in spend and 15,000 for $36,000. I have a United Business Club card.

For clarification you don’t have to select which offer you want. You will qualify for the higher offer if you spend more. I thought you did, but good to know you have the option.
