The suite of Chase United cards all picked up a number of similar coupon credits in a top-to-bottom card refresh today. Joining the United Club card at the ultra-premium end, the United Club Business card offers quite a pricey set of coupons for those who want United Club access in a business card.

Analysis of the changes
At a base earning rate of 1.5 miles per dollar spent, the United Club Business card offers the best return on ordinary spend among the various United credit cards. On the surface, that makes this the best card for spending toward elite status for those chasing additional Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs) since you’ll earn 50% more miles on purchases that would otherwise go unbonused.
That said, this card’s big spend bonuses feel comparatively weak. Two global Economy Plus credits might come in valuable if you’d have otherwise taken a long-haul economy class flight, but it’s kind of surprising that United can’t throw in Premium Plus (a truer “Premium Economy” type experience) with $40K in purchases. This benefit might not be worth much at all for a traveler who otherwise buys Premium Plus or business class, whether with miles or money. Better yet, I’d have loved to have seen this card come with the same award ticket discounts offered on some of the other United cards.
As with the consumer version of the United Club card, you’ll now need to spend $50,000 or more per year to unlock All Access membership that provides for a second adult guest at lounges and Star Alliance lounge access or you’ll need to earn Premier Gold status (which would get you Star Alliance lounge access anyway, but unlocks All Access membership in conjunction with this card).
As with the other United cards, this one offers coupon credits that will vary in usefulness. The $200 in credits for Renowned Hotels and Resorts for United Cardmembers could be useful in some situations if that turns out to be fairly similar to Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts. The rideshare credits require annual re-enrollment, which is pretty annoying. The Avis and Budget credits require renting through cars.united.com for a minimum of two days and then those credits are received as TravelBank credits rather than statement credits. Ten dollar Instacart credits seem like an odd fit for a $695 business credit card.
If you happen to have a use case for JSX and the Renowned Hotels and Resorts credits and you’re willing to deal with the dribs and drabs of the rideshare credits and Instacart benefits, maybe this will feel like a value-priced United Club membership. There’s no doubt though that at this price point, it’s disappointing to see a set of coupons that isn’t more widely applicable.

Just a load of garbage for $695/year that really requires much more spending for the advertised benefits. Just say no!
