The Citi ThankYou portal is offering $50 off on hotel bookings of at least 2 nights when you book online via the Citi ThankYou Travel Portal. This could be a solid deal on an inexpensive stay or can even stack with the 4th night free if you have the Citi Prestige card, though keep in mind that stays booked through the ThankYou portal will not qualify towards elite status or earn hotel points, nor will you enjoy any elite status benefits. If you’re staying in a cheap overseas market, your hotel could be nearly free.
The Deal
- Get $50 off hotel bookings of 2 or more consecutive nights when booking through the Citi ThankYou Portal using promo code CITI50
- Direct link to this promotion
Key Details
- Expires 4/30/18
Quick Thoughts
This discount can be pretty significant if you have a cheap 2-night stay lined up. For example, the Candlewood Suites near Dulles Airport is available for $70 per night next weekend.
After applying the discount code on the checkout page, the price comes down to $90 for two nights. Less then $50 per night all-in is hard to beat.
This code will also apply with a 4th-night-free booking. It even applies if you pay with points. I ran a search for four nights at the hotel above and elected to pay with points. The CITI50 code took 5,000 points off the total:
If you hold a ThankYou Premier card, I believe you would get 1.25c per point and pay even fewer points, though I’m not sure whether the code CITI50 takes off a different number of points for Premier card holders.
Stephen Pepper brought to my attention the fact that the code may not work if the hotel already has some sort of special offer in the system, so it is possible that this code won’t apply to all hotels. That said, it did apply to the hotels I tested.
I don’t think there are geographical restrictions — which could make for a nearly free stay in cheap markets. For example, you could stay for two nights at the POP! Hotel Nusa Dua in Bali, Indonesia for two nights for a grand total of 80 cents or 80 ThankYou points.
I’m not familiar with the POP! HOtel Nusa Dua, so I’m not sure if there are any additional award fees or taxes, but I imagine any additional charges would be minor.
Bottom line
You have until 4/30/18 to use code CITI50 to save $50 on two or more consecutive hotel nights booked through the Citi ThankYou portal. I did not see full terms for this code, so I’m not sure whether or not it is valid for multi-use. If you try to use it more than one time, let us know your experience in the comments.
H/T: Miles to Memories
Hey, long time reader of Frequent Miler here who happens to be part owner of the POP! Hotel Nusa Dua, Bali. Thanks for mentioning our property in FM, Nick!
Ha! Small world. I should have linked to reviews — looks like mostly happy guests, too. Maybe you’ll get a few $0.80 guests 🙂
Interesting, if you put 2 separate hotel stays in your checkout it will minus $100. This promo won’t last long before they shut it down. I put 2 nights in Bangkok (remember the Murray Head song?) in the checkout and it was $7 after the promo.
Great tip, thanks for sharing!
Couple questions (if anyone knows):
1) Do you know if this promo can only be used to book a resv for the cardholder? Or can book for others?
2) Can the promo be used multiple times or only once per card account?
3) The promo is valid through April 30, but can it be used to make bookings after April 30?
Thanks,
Michael
To answer #3, Reservations can be booked up to 330 days in advance
1) I assume you can make a reservation for someone else, but I haven’t tried. Did you try going through a booking and putting someone else’s name in as the guest?
2) Others here say they used it multiple times.
3) As Joeheg said, you can book through the end of the schedule.
I did two different bookings and applied the code and seemed to have worked twice.
And to add to this. I remember very well booking a Hilton hotel for 4 nights in Dallas through the portal and i gained Hilton points for these 4 nights. I even have the proof. So i think the booking is not considered as a OTA booking. But something different ( not sure what )
Wait, are you saying that if I book, say Marriott, though the ThankYou portal, I will NOT be able to do the room upgrade or get a free breakfast because I’m a Gold/Platinum Marriott rewards member?
Or is it only if I redeem ThankYou points? Or is it the web portal itself? I got all the Spire benefits last year and a Citi 4th night free when I booked through the Citi concierge. Would like to know the specifics as I’m shopping for a 4 night stay with redeeming ThankYou points.
Bookings through the web portal are treated like any other Online Travel Agency (Expedia, Priceline, etc). Phone bookings through the Prestige Concierge still get elite credit and benefits as of my experiences last year, but web bookings do not.

Interesting… thanks Nick, good to know, as I’m searching for a suitable Marriott in Paris through the ThankYou portal hoping to be upgraded on arrival and get other benefits. I guess that opens up more choices now for any hotel. I’m glad I caught this article !
Go look and book on Hotel .com then cancel if u find a better but hurry .
