Vrbo and United have had a partnership for the last couple of years and, last year, started offering 3x MileagePlus miles on bookings through the platform.
There’s currently a new promotion available which is giving 2,000 bonus United miles when making a reservation by the end of August.

Key Terms
- To receive the 2,000 mile bonus, members must book a Vrbo property rental between August 14 (12:00am CT) and August 31, 2023 (11:59pm CT) and complete the stay. This offer is combinable with other offers.
- This offer is available to one Eligible Participant per booking. An Eligible Participant is a person aged 18 or over who is a member of United Airlines MileagePlus Program and is the primary traveler on the booking. To be eligible for this offer, Eligible Participants must make their reservation on the Vrbo/United site and enter their MileagePlus membership number in the “Please enter your United Airlines MileagePlus membership number (8 digits) to earn miles” field. MileagePlus miles are awarded after the stay has been completed and will not be awarded if the Eligible Participant’s last name used in the booking as the primary traveler does not match the last name associated to the United Airlines MileagePlus membership number provided.
- For every $1 spent on the cost of the vacation rental, an Eligible Participant will receive 3 MileagePlus award miles after the completed stay. MileagePlus miles will be awarded on the cost of the rental amount only excluding the relevant taxes, cleaning fees, property damage protection and any other service fees or other fees applicable to the booking, including without limitation, extra person, phone, parking and other charges. Such fees and charges do not count toward the spending requirement for this offer and will not earn miles.
- Participating Vrbo properties are subject to change without notice. Bookings are subject to availability at the time of booking and all applicable terms and conditions.

- Miles accrued, awards, and benefits issued are subject to change and are subject to the rules of the United MileagePlus program, including without limitation the Premier program (the “MileagePlus Program”), which are expressly incorporated herein. Please allow 6-8 weeks after completed qualifying activity for miles to post to your account.
Quick Thoughts
The terms of the offer aren’t entirely clear regarding dates. It states that you have to book the stay by August 31, 2023, but it doesn’t mention when you have to stay by. I think it’s highly unlikely that you’d have to complete a stay within the next two weeks, so this promotion is presumably valid on all stays booked through the end of the booking calendar provided you make the reservation by August 31.
The 2,000 bonus miles will be on top of the 3x miles you earn as standard through the partnership. I’ve never booked through Vrbo, but I’m assuming you’ll also earn 2% in One Key Rewards – the new loyalty program for Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo combined.
Seeing as you have to go through the United/Vrbo landing page, I don’t think this will be stackable with cashback/rewards through a shopping portal. That said, it’s worth checking the current portal rates before booking in case one or more portals offer an enhanced rate.

I just found out about this but booked a stay last week. Any way I can activate this offer on a upcoming reservation?
You’d need to cancel and rebook in order to be eligible. Be sure to check the cancellation policy of your existing reservation before cancelling though. It also runs the risk of the property not being immediately bookable again – I’m not sure how that works with Vrbo.
