Ask us anything: From a dialogue on another post, if you have no SUB or high-spend opportunities, on which card would you put non-bonuses spending? Much has changed recently. (Please assume 2.25% at BofA.). Thanks.
I am burning my Cat7 certificate at HR Coconut Point next month only because it is the highest category hotel within 2hr driving from home. At 29K or $1200 a night for standard room for that one Saturday night, I feel I spent my Cat7 cert well.
No more bookings for 2026 as I had booked them all once scheduled opened. But for 2027, I already booked 5nights at Park Hyatt St Kitts and applied for a suite upgrade, over $1600 per night before taxes/fees. Also booked 4 nights at the HR Coral Gabels for 18k per night. I applied a suite upgrade certificate and got confirmed into a terrace suite which is a premium suite, over $700 a night before taxes/fees.I will wait for schedule to open so I can book Park Hyatt DC which I stay every year, but cash rate at this hotel is manageable if book through FHR or EDIT. It’s sad that Hyatt is making such drastic changes. The days of staying home, stay cheap hotels or pay cash are around the corner.
Just arrived at Coconut Point rwith the grandkids. We have been coming for 13 years with them. They love it. When we first started coming it was a category 4 and mostly used free night anwards and 12,00 points a night. Then went up to category 5 l, category then 6, then seasonal 6 so this year it was 29,000 points a night. I can’t even imagine what it will be for spring break next year. So I have already booked 2 rooms for next March. At 29,000 points. And 2 suite upgrades. And free breakfast and parking and resort fees. A suite is going for $1200 per night plus parking and resort fees. So it would be $15,000. It has been an awesome deal. And an awesome place. And awesome memories. Thinking next year might be our last as I just drained my Chase points.
