Update: TopCashBack has clarified the language on this deal: This offer is valid on all second-hand gift cards. Note from Greg: I’m re-publishing this to give it more attention. 20% back for a wide variety of gift cards is an awesome deal, but it is only available until 11:59 PT tonight.
TopCashBack is offering the highest cash back rate I think I’ve ever seen at Raise.com: 20% cash back.
This is huge — it is valid on orders up to $1K — though note the lifetime limit at Raise. Once you’ve placed $5K in purchases lifetime at Raise, you’re not eligible to earn any more cash back.
What counts? What doesn’t?
All gift cards listed as “Discount Gift Cards” count towards the 20% TopCashBack rebate. Gift cards listed as “Cash Back Gift Cards” do not count. You can see the difference between the two types in the image here:
For more details about what counts and what doesn’t, see this post.
If you haven’t yet signed up for TopCashBack, you can find Greg’s referral link here.

Find it very convenient that TopCashBack just changed the estimated payable for all these transactions from 5 weeks to 10 weeks so you can’t file a claim for this not paying out. We all know where this is going, short sided “let’s drum up business” –> “wow this will cost too much, how do we wiggle out of paying” Any comment from TopCashBack or Frequent Miler staff?? If they end up stiffing people, would hope it is exposed.
I’m not sure exactly what you’re referring to, but I’d be very surprised if TopCashBack didn’t pay out provided you clicked through the portal and made a qualifying purchase. I’ve spent many thousands of dollars through topcashback over the years and always gotten paid out, which matches the experience of most people I know. I highly doubt that they would avoid paying out on a short-term one day deal as this likely represents a tiny fraction of the business they do – especially after they explicitly confirmed the details on this deal. I’m not sure what the typical pending time frame is on topcashback transactions, but I would imagine that when that is over you’ll get paid properly. Again, I’d be very surprised if that weren’t the case, but keep us updated.
Just to clarify, previously it was saying payable in 5 weeks, so approx. June 13th. They then require you wait 4 additional weeks before submitting a ticket. That would of been July 11th. Today (June 10th) they have updated payable to 10 weeks, so most your readers are now going to be waiting until August 15th. Just something to watch, as I assume I am not the only one who saw this change in their account.

Still waiting for my $200 back on a $1,000 purchase. Starting to think it’s a scam. I put in a claim and they say it could take months…huh?
Anyone else waiting?
Can’t find Walmart anymore
Just placed a $500 Hotels.com. Hopefully, this goes well and no headache with my order. Patagonia here we come.
Hi Gil!
I hope this cashback goes through smoothly for you and that you enjoy your trip to Patagonia! I’m quite jealous
Thanks,
Jack
I dont understand thr logic of this offer. Who foots the $200 bill per customer? (Up to $200)
Hi Pointz,
This is a joint campaign between ourselves and Raise.com. We get paid in commission from the retailer and we pass this on to our members as cashback, we’ve then gone ahead and given this a bit of a boost from our own pockets. It’s the same as any other cashback offer you see on our site, except we’ve been able to get hold of this exclusive rate, just for our members!
Thanks,
Jack
Maybe stupid, but the $1000 limit is on what you spend, not the value of the cards you buy, right?
Hi Audrey,
It should be based off the total amount you’re spending and not the value of the card, yes 🙂 If you have any trouble with this, please do let us know.
Thanks,
Jack
So I’ve never used Raise before, but signed up for both TopCashBack and Raise, went through the links, and ordered a $100 Lowe’s gift card. It showed a 2% discount so it ended up $98. When does the 20% come in to play? At a later date, kind of like Ebates?
Yes, like ebates.
Hi Jack (cool name!)
This should track to your account for you within 7 days but if that doesn’t happen, it can always be followed up through a missing cashback claim. I’ve shared the link below in case.

I hope this helps,

I hope its true. Just placed an order. It really sounds to good to be true when you can use it on gas cards, sams club, etc
Hi Brian!
It’s definitely true! Your cashback should track within 7 days if you’ve placed an order.
Thanks,
Jack
Hi All!
Jumping on here to address some confusion. The word “includes” was actually correct. Sears, Kmart, Best Buy, etc. are often excluded from promotions like this, but they are all eligible for this 20% cash back promotion, so we wanted to let everyone know that they were “included”. We’re so sorry if this was written in a way that was a bit confusing. I hope that clears things up!

So after the terms were updated on TCB site, is this 20% on any discounted gift cards, right?
That’s right, Alex 🙂
Thanks,
Jack
Nicole. Can you clarify if this is 20% on up to $1,000, as in $200 total, or 20% on up to $50, as in max $10?
Hi Jakob,
$200 is the answer to your question! It’s 20% of whatever you spend. With a capped order value of $1,000.
I hope this helps,
Jack
[…] Nick just covered the great deal on gift cards sold on Raise as you can earn 20% cashback when clicking through from TopCashback. […]
When they say “includes Sears, Sears In-Store, Kmart, Kmart In-Store, Starbucks, Amazon, Nordstrom, Staples, Best Buy, Bloomingdale’s, Macys, Hyatt, iTunes” doesn’t that mean those are the only gift cards that will earn the cashback? If that’s not what it means, why in the world would they word it this way? It feels like they are trying to make the terms confusing so they have plenty of ways to talk their way out of paying.
I’m with you on this one.
Hi Rob,
I can see how you may this this but I can assure you we’re not trying to confuse anyone! Usually (or before this offer) we had a lower rate for specific Gift Cards such as the ones in that included list. It was placed on this offer to make members aware those Gift Cards are also available for you. We do apologize for the confusion and we later adapted the offer to read clearly.
I hope this helps,
Jack
It says that “Gift Card Listings will receive no cashback.” but gift cards is all that Raise sells. Does this mean that discounted cards (from other people) are excluded so face value cards (called “Cash Back Gift Cards” on Raise) will work?
It’s the other way around – discounted cards will earn cashback, ‘Cash Back’ gift cards won’t. The listings exclusion refers to sellers, not buyers.
Yeah so this is what it says: Bulk Seller listings are not eligible for cashback.
What’s a bulk seller? How do you know who’s even selling the gift cards you buy?
I just bought some Hotels.com and AirBnb cards. I have stays and will use them anyway. I’m going with the assumption that they mean “you won’t get cashback for listing gift cards or selling them”.
Fingers crossed but I figure the longer I wait, the more likely the ones I want will be gone. Pretty sweet deal if it pans out.
Hi Nate,
That’s right! If you sell a Gift Card, that won’t earn you cashback. And the same goes for people who are selling a bulk of Gift Cards on Raise as well. This isn’t something you should need to worry about yourself 🙂
Thanks,
Jack
lol yah kinda hard to know who is selling the cards in the first place! i think they mean if you plan to buy in bulk and resell gift cards
