Hyatt is once again offering a 10% rebate on summertime points redemptions for credit card holders when you register and then redeem points between July 1, 2019 and September 2, 2019. This deal has come around over the past few summers and is a nice deal if you’ve got Hyatt award stays planned.

Quick Thoughts

This deal has come around the past several years and it’s awesome to essentially end up with a 10% discount on your award stays during peak summer travel season.

In years past, bookings made before the promo period but consumed during the promo period qualified. However, this line makes that somewhat questionable this year:

Only points redeemed between July 1, 2019 and September 2, 2019 will be eligible for this promotion.

If you have already made a booking for that time period, you would have technically already redeemed your points I think. That line could mean that an existing booking would not qualify.

On the other hand, those prior bookings have qualified each of the previous years, so I’d imagine they likely will this year as well. If there is availability to rebook and your chosen property has not increased in category, you could always rebook on July 1st if you’re concerned.

Overall, this is a solid deal and it’s great to see it back.

[…] just for the double elite qualifying nights, it does stack nicely with the current offer for 10% back on award stays that starts on July 1, 2019 and ends on September 2, 2019. Since award stays are elite qualifying nights, you could both get 10% on award stays and earn 2 […]

[…] I’m figuring that you’ve already heard because not just one, two, three, four or five but a minimum of six different sites have written about it. So there’s no need for me to […]

I contacted WOH yesterday about this very same issue as I also have reservations for July already booked with points. They were unsure of whether the stay would be honored with this promotion. I could not cancel and rebook the reservation as award nights were no longer available. However, they suggested that if the points were not credited back to my account following the stay that I should call WOH again and they would try and assist me.

Would be nice if this was offered as a permanent benefit, similar to the 10% points refund on award stays with the Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Mastercard.

The verbiage is a bit confusing. I have many bookings during July but I booked them several months ago. The points were “redeemed” and withdrawn from my account when I booked it. Will I get points rebated for these already booked stays? Or do I really need to cancel them and rebook them after July 1? Seems silly to have to do that but the wording is a bit confusing.
