There is a new targeted Amex Offer out this week that’s good for $100 back on $400 or more at Hyatt properties in Latin America. If you’re planning a trip to Latin America in the next couple of months, this could make for a nice savings — though it’s worth noting that participating properties are located in Costa Rica, Mexico, and South America, so the definition of “Latin America” for the purposes of this promotion has a narrower scope than you may expect.

The Deal

Key Terms

  • Valid at participating hotels in Latin America (see link to list above)
  • Expires 1/31/24
  • Only valid on bookings made directly with Hyatt

Quick Thoughts

This is of fairly limited scope compared to my image of Latin America (for instance, it doesn’t include any Caribbean islands). That said, there are plenty of perennially popular properties on the list, so it’s worth taking a look and syncing this up if any of them are in your plans in the coming months. If you have a stay planned outside of the offer period, it might be possible to call the hotel and get them to charge an advance deposit to your card.

Minor point of clarification: Participating properties in Central America beyond Costa Rica include El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras.

I have two Amex cards-Blue cash everyday/Hilton Surpass. For some reason, I got all non-us hotel/resort Hyatt/Hilton offers seem to appear on Blue cash everyday only. In case I use Blue cash everyday for booking those non-US resort, I have to pay extra for foreign transaction fees, right?? Maybe I can avoid it if I pay online in advance? I wish I have those offers on Hilton Surpass which comes with a benefit of “no foreign transaction fee”.

Is it possible to double dip in the park hyatt Buenos Aires with the Park Hyatt Amex offer currently running?

UrbanDweller

No. See my reply to someone else below.

Filipe

But which one will trigger?
Amex is running two separate offers for Park Hyatt Buenos Aires (the one for Park Hyatt 250off for 750 spend and this one for Latam)

Juan Vegas

If the hotel is eligible for both promotions then it should trigger both. Check if the terms have a list of eligible hotels. If it’s just all Park Hyatts and all Hyatt in South America then it’ll trigger as well.

UrbanDweller

Ok. I thought you were referring to Amex’s FHR/HC program. Juan is correct. If you meet the terms of both AMEX offers, they both should trigger.

Also, if you have a WOH account with Hyatt and will be staying at least three nights, then you can stack this ongoing promo as well: “Earn 3,000 Points For Every Three Nights (Paid)”. Have to register by Nov. 10th.

Hope this helps.

Do you know if I can prepay my hotel for my March 2024 stay and get the $100 off? Or do I have to stay in Jan 2024?

Tracy

Does this apply to bookings made with AMEX FHR or THC? Wonder if I can double dip the promo

UrbanDweller

No. You have to book directly through hyatt.com. See terms of offer. It’s there.

It won’t work for the cost of the stay itself as the payment is processed by Amex Travel. However, if you use the card for incidentals and charge $400+ to your room for food, spa treatments, etc., that should work.
