Update 4/28/21: Looks like this is dead. While the PayPal landing page still works, the deal no longer shows up within the Brex account and thus we can’t be sure that points would post since they have pulled mention of the deal.
Update 4/27/21: After seeing Chuck at Doctor of Credit post about how easy this was to do and reading View from the Wing’s post, I finally took the time to get this set up. It took me about 7 minutes to set up a PayPal business account for my LLC (something I had been meaning to do anyway) and then my entire phone call to PayPal including more than 10 minutes on hold was 23 minutes long. That included the time to verify who I am and have the PayPal rep walk me through sending an invoice to myself and paying it with my personal PayPal account. As per View from the Wing, you can sign up with just online invoicing (which has no monthly fee and coincidentally is what I actually needed for my LLC). I agreed to also get set up with a virtual terminal where I could punch in a credit card number manually (no monthly cost for this either), which means I’ll get a second call later this week. Whether or not this actually works is anybody’s guess, but the worst case is that I wasted 23 minutes of my life and the best case is that I get 100,000 airline miles or $1,000. I’ve spent longer scratching off lotto tickets on Christmas morning for less return, so I’m giving this a shot. If you have a Brex account, you’re kind of crazy not to give it a whirl. Log in to your Brex account, click “Rewards”, find “PayPal”, fill out the PayPal form, and then don’t wait for them to call you – just call 855- 787-4321 and pick Option 2. Original post follows.
Brex is offering 100,000 Brex points when signing up for PayPal Merchant Processing and payment processing begins. Note that there is an approval process, so this will neither be automatic nor necessarily easy (actually, it was very easy) and it may not make sense for everyone, but for those who can take advantage it is an amazing bonus given that the points are worth $1,000 cash at minimum.
The Deal
- Brex is offering 100,000 points when you sign up for PayPal payments processing after you sign a contract with PayPal and payment processing begins
- Direct link to log in and see this at Brex (worth logging in to make sure you have the offer)
- Direct link to sign up at PayPal
Key Terms
- Offer available for new PayPal processing customers only, must include card processing in the integration.
Quick Thoughts
I’ve not signed up for payment processing with PayPal before, so I’m not sure if there are minimums in terms of length of contract or volume of payment processing. At least one commenter at Doctor of Credit said that they were told they didn’t need the $30/month package but can rather sign up to get just the PayPal card reader that connects to your phone. Your business does need a website. It looks like Bluehost is still paying out $65 across multiple shopping portals, which makes it pretty cheap to set up a site if your business doesn’t yet have one.

Does anyone have an image of the landing page? On there it said to complete the form and wait for someone to call back, or just call the number they provided. I did the latter, but didn’t take a screen shot and now I’m worried that they are only awarding people who filled out the form first. I may have filled out the form, but it’s hard to remember because it was over two months ago now. I’m very good at being sure to follow the terms and conditions, and have never missed out on a bonus because of it, so I’d be very surprised if I somehow messed this up.
My PayPal 100k still hasn’t posted unfortunately. Chatted yesterday, and they said they would email an updated, but nothing yet.
Nothing here unfortunately.
No points for me yet
Still don’t show mine 🙁
I just logged in my account and the points has posted
Amazing! I had logged in yesterday and didn’t have them yet but mine also posted overnight. Thanks for commenting!
Has anyone received the 100k? I haven’t.
I have not either. I thought I read somewhere they would post “mid May” but I have no activity.
Just needed the invoicing (like doing a test invoice to yourself that they walked you through), correct?
It was there this morning, I clicked through, signed up, spoke with a PP agent to set up the account and sample invoicing. Hopefully, I’ll get the points as I didn’t get any confirmation for using the link except for the screenshot above…
I had pulled this up yesterday in my Brex account to come back to. Now, it seems Paypal is gone from my Rewards list in Brex! Maybe I missed my chance.
According Chuck, Doctor of Credit, Brex/PayPal deal has expired. Those that applied before the expiration, should receive their points mid May.
Yes, we updated this post this morning before DoC did. Bummer for sure!
Do you think the promo for 110K “taught” Brex a lot? Or maybe PayPal pulled the plug?
Is everyone with a current active PayPal business account ineligible for the bonus?
Or is merchant processing a separate service such that I can get the bonus by adding it to my existing business account?
Reading through this again it sounds like they just want you to setup a normal PayPal business account?
I have a friend who had an existing PayPal business account who was able to just add the merchant services on to it over the phone this afternoon. I think that will work. You need to add the payment processing capabilities. I’m doing online invoicing and setting up a virtual terminal.
Something a bit worrysome is Brex usually answers emails really quickly but I asked them when the points would post. Paypal said Brex would award but the emails needed to be the same on both accounts. I asked paypal how this works and they said they weren’t sure and to ask Brex. I did and they haven’t answered back how long it takes for the points to post.
Brex has never responded to my emails in a fashion that remotely resembles quickly if at all. Try a chat. Someone told me that chat confirmed with them that points should post in about a week, but hard to say.
In terms of how it works, you check a box during the process that says you allow PayPal to share your info with Brex and both sides say to make sure you use the same email address with Brex and PayPal. I’m sure that PayPal sends over a list of email addresses for new Brex leads and that’s how Brex will line it up, so I’d be sure your emails match.
Thanks Nick! I just did the chat and they just said it takes up to 30 days for it to post. So I guess I’ll see how long it takes to post. Thanks.
Correct, just add to your existing business account. However, that email address (PayPal business account email address) should match your Brex email address. Some say not, but I would think it eliminates hassles down the road, like where are my points conversation?
Nick are you sure about needing a website? I have been reading mixed comments on actually needing one.
The form asks for a website and it’s mandatory something goes in the box. I put in my seldom used facebook homepage. I was asked again for the website on the phone in the setup process. He didn’t say anything.
Not sure, no. DoC noted that it was required – I suppose because it is in fact a required field on the form you fill out (and as Michael says, the rep asked for it). That said, the site for my LLC is very simple. I noted before that Bluehost has been offering $65 cash back via various portals and a site for 1 year with 5 email addresses comes to seventy-something bucks before cash back — so it’s less than $15 for the first year to set one up. If you don’t know WordPress at all, it might take you an hour or maybe two to figure out how to make a basic page. I showed my wife how to do it and she was off and creating pages / posts on her own the next day.
Also Nick. I highly recommend GoDaddy to make a website. I never knew they did this and just thought they did domains but a friend showed me a website they made themself with GoDaddy and it is really polished and he showed me how easy it was.
I updated my company website as it needed a refresh and I did it myself. I mostly just copied and pasted text from my previous page but it looks really great.
It was around $150 but a really great surprise was the Gold Amex Business card that I recently signed up for that came with 80,000 point bonus and also $150 for advertising, automatically credited back the $150 as I guess GoDaddy must count as “advertising”. That was a nice surprise.
I called and I was told that for my business, I would pay 2.9% +.30 for any payments. There is no charge if I don’t use the service. I just need to use the invoice service. For my work, this is terrific. The 1k bonus is amazing.
