Update: It turns out this offer is still only available via Business Relationship Manager. You may be able to get it, but you will likely still need a BRM. Not all branches have one and not all BRMs are seeing this offer.
Doctor of Credit reports that there will be an in-branch offer for 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months that will be available for applications from April 29, 2018 to May 5, 2018 for National Small Business Week. The word is that this offer will be available to anyone applying with an in-branch banker. While there is an ongoing 100K offer available to those applying through a Business Relationship Manager, this offer is expected to be available with any banker in-branch.
The Offer
- 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months with the Chase Ink Business Preferred for in-branch applications during National Small Business Week (April 29 – May 5) (see your branch for details, Doctor of Credit has screen shots of the flyer/memo)
Key Card Details
- Earns 3x on the first $150K spend in the following categories: travel, shipping, internet, cable & phone services, advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines
- No foreign transaction fees
- Cell phone protection if you pay your monthly service with the card
- Transfer to Chase Transfer Partners 1:1 or book travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal for 1.25 cents per point
- $95 annual fee (may be waived the first year — see the offer details in-branch)
Quick Thoughts
This will be an awesome offer for those who qualify, as 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points are worth at least $1,000 if you cash them out for $0.01 each, but are much more valuable if transferred to partners strategically. Our Reasonable Redemption Value for Ultimate Rewards points is 1.82 cents each, meaning that you can reasonably expect to redeem the signup bonus at a value around $1,820 — though you can certainly do even better with international premium cabin flights or the right hotel partners.
Unfortunately, this offer will still be subject to 5/24.
Chase's 5/24 Rule: With most Chase credit cards, Chase will not approve your application if you have opened 5 or more cards with any bank in the past 24 months. To determine your 5/24 status, see: 3 Easy Ways to Count Your 5/24 Status. The easiest option is to track all of your cards for free with Travel Freely. |
No word as to whether or not this offer will be available online, though I wouldn’t expect it to be.
Applying for Business Credit Cards Yes, you have a business: In order to sign up for a business credit card, you must have a business. That said, it's common for people to have businesses without realizing it. If you sell items at a yard sale, or on eBay, for example, then you have a business. Similar examples include: consulting, writing (e.g. blog authorship, planning your first novel, etc.), handyman services, owning rental property, renting on airbnb, driving for Uber or Lyft, etc. In any of these cases, your business is considered a Sole Proprietorship unless you form a corporation of some sort. When you apply for a business credit card as a sole proprietor, you can use your own name as your business name, use your own address and phone as the business' address and phone, and your social security number as the business' Tax ID / EIN. Alternatively, you can get a proper Tax ID / EIN from the IRS for free, in about a minute, through this website. Is it OK to use business cards for personal expenses? Anecdotally, almost everyone I know uses business cards for personal expenses. That said, the terms in most business card applications state that you should use the card only for business use. Also, some consumer credit card protections do not apply to business cards. My advice: don't use the card for personal expenses if you're not comfortable doing so. |
If you are under 5/24 and live somewhere near a Chase branch, this offer should probably be at the top of your list when it comes live next week. See: The best Chase cards that ARE subject to 5/24 for more on why. If it comes online, we will certainly post about it as soon as we see it.

[…] a fairly intriguing offer. Keep in mind that there is also an (apparently targeted) offer out for 100K on the Ink Business Preferred that is available in-branch only via a BRM or the standard 80K offer, which requires much less […]
Grateful for the information, which is usually spot-on. However, when I went to branch – no advertising for this. After asking was directed to a banker like this is a secret. He actually kept a screen filter on his computer until he found the offer. Offer was for 80,000 miles, not 100k. Had to determine a “code” for my “business” from the NCIS list of business codes…..took 15 minutes to find the right one. Then another 10 min for banker to fill out online forms. Then a call to “central” to check app and approve. Everything together took 45 min and I didn’t get all the miles I expected.
Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you’re not alone in that not every branch has it after all.
Has anyone tried and received this in-branch 100K offer yet? This is the only place I’ve seen this offer mentioned and there doesn’t seem to be any chatter about it elsewhere; all the links still say 80K. I’ve actually been waiting on this and am ready to go – under 5/24 – but don’t want to ask in the bank until I know it’s a real deal. I cancelled my very old Bold card in December and declined the automatic switch so I could reapply.
If you see the link to “Doctor of Credit” (the hat tip at the bottom of the post), you’ll see the image of the flyer he posted. A number of other blogs also reported it, but I think we were all reporting on his information as he had the flyer last week.
Unfortunately, as it turns out, it appears that it is still targeted via BRM. There are some reports on Reddit, Doctor of Credit, and various other blogs of people getting the offer in-branch, but apparently it still has to go through a Business Relationship Manager and not everyone can get it, contrary to the original information DoC was given.
[…] 100K Ink Business Preferred offer coming next week, Frequent Miler […]
I already have a Chase Ink Business Preferred card (got it 1 year ago). Am I eligible to apply for this 100K offer when it opens up?
Cell protection, you say must buy the phone with the card. Untrue. You just need to pay your bill with it.
You are correct – I’ve updated the post.
I will get under 5/24 on 5/24. I am serious.
Can I apply for this card on the last day and then drag it somehow till 5/24?
Call and ask I got the Marriott card after I ASKED !!!!
We moved recently and my husband’s last app was for this card. Used the new address. Got the 30 day message then the 7-10 day one. Got a letter saying they wanted to verify it was him b/c of the new address. App had not been processed. Since you have 30 days after applying to get approval and still get the offer, if you could work something similar I’m wondering if you could put off the processing and drag it out to 5/24. Hope this makes sense. On phone with only left hand free (baby). 🙂
Thank you both. I think that’s what I will do.
Is there any way to take advantage of this promo through a referral that will net the person who referred you a bonus 20k UR points while still allowing you to get the 100k in-branch?
No, I don’t think so. You could try applying through a referral link online but later ask for a match to the 100K offer, but that’s far from a sure thing. If you apply in branch, I would imagine that the banker gets a commission if anyone.
I already had a Tax Registration Certificate, but not an EIN. Thank you for posting this. Now, applying for business cards will be that much simpler for me.
Glad it helped!
I just got approved online last week. any chance they would give me the bonus 20000 points ?
I always have the same perspective on that: You hit 0% of the pitches at which you do not swing. In other words, they match 0% of the time when you don’t ask. Even if you only have a 10% chance, it only takes a minute to send a secure message and try. I’d wait until the offer is live and use a picture of the flyer from a branch if possible to increase your odds. No sense in not trying.
