$150 back on $375 at Marriott with new targeted Amex Offer [Enrollment required, mind the exclusions

There’s a new Amex Offer out today for Marriott, and a few different versions of the offer exist that vary by cardholder. The version I found on both my Bonvoy Business card and a Business Platinum card is good for $150 back when you spend $375 or more, though others have reported $100 back on $400 or more. You do have to mind the exclusions on this one and of course enrollment is required.

The Deal

• New targeted Amex Offers are out for Marriott. Offers vary by cardholder, but thus far we have seen:
  • $100 back on $400 or more in eligible charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy® properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico from 1/6/2025 to 3/31/2025
  • $150 back on $375 or more in eligible charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy® properties in the U.S. and U.S. territories, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico from 1/6/2025 to 3/31/2025

Quick Thoughts

Obviously this is a solid offer if you have the $100 back on $400 and a terrific offer for Marriott if you have the $150 back on $375 version. Either is a great deal, particularly when you consider that you could stack that by going through a shopping portal and then you’ll earn Marriott points on the full spend. The $150 back on $375 is enough to get me to reconsider some lodging plans during the offer period.

However, do note the exclusions. One of the first places I thought to use the offer was a Luxury Collection hotel, which is in the list of excluded brands. The exclusion list seems to mostly eliminate the possibility of double dipping with Fine Hotels & Resorts, which might have otherwise made for a great play here. That said, I don’t see an exclusion for the MGM Collection. I wouldn’t necessarily expect those properties to count given the nature of the partnership, but I don’t know for sure.

Also note that this offer is only valid in the US, the Caribbean, Canada and Mexico. I’m not sure they needed to call out the exclusion of Protea hotels given that those are entirely in Africa, but be aware that this won’t work everywhere.

The terms also officially exclude gift card purchases. Practically speaking, I’m not sure there is a mechanism to differentiate purchases made at the front desk of a hotel, but the exclusion is there nonetheless.
