1K free miles + 15% off Aeromexico with Visa Checkout [select routes]

5

Aeromexico is offering a 15% discount on select routes when you register and check out with Visa Checkout. Furthermore, they are offering 1,000 bonus miles just for registering for the promotion. The discount is valid on all domestic routes and select international routes from Mexico. Though there are no US cities on the discount list, it might still be useful for those looking to visit a couple of places in Mexico or for those who can easily position to Mexico for an international itinerary, though in a few test searches I didn’t find great prices on the international cities included.

International Flights

  • Valid for from Mexico to Seoul, Shanghai, Tokyo, San Salvador, Panama, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, Paris, Amsterdam, and Sao Paulo
  • Valid for purchases and travel from March 1st to June 15th, but not valid for travel from April 27th to May 5th (blackout dates possibly only apply to Amsterdam, Paris, and Sao Paulo – it’s tough to say for sure from the terms)
  • Valid on both Economy and Premier (Business) base fares, not on taxes and fees.

Quick Thoughts

While Aeromexico is not known for an overly generous award chart, it is Membership Rewards transfer partner and SPG transfer partner, so there are options for topping off an account. Further, the 15% discount might come in handy especially for domestic routes within Mexico. Aeromexico’s pricing looks high on the included international routes, but keep this discount in mind if you see a decent fare as it might make sense to position to Mexico if you’re traveling on to Central or South America or are located close enough to Mexico for it to make sense as a connection point onward – though keep in mind that you’ll have to purchase separate tickets since this discount is valid for flights originating in Mexico.

Note that the promotion page is in Spanish, but you can easily translate it using your browser. As Aeromexico is a Skyteam partner, you could credit flights to Delta or other SkyTeam airlines. Check wheretocredit.com for rates depending on your fare class.

For the free miles, after registration there should be a blue button to click to fill in your information for the miles. I did not register as I do not have an Aeromexico account set up, but the instructions look simple from the terms.
