Booking.com is running an interesting promotion where they are offering 20% back in Booking.com credit when you book a vacation rental by September 12th for a stay through December 31, 2021 and use promo code RENTAL20 (you enter it on the final step of the checkout process). The maximum credit is $150 and this can only be used once, but it gives you 20% back on the rate itself and the taxes / cleaning fees, so this could be a good deal.

Quick Thoughts

I don’t know whether or not Booking.com’s vacation rentals are competitively-priced. I didn’t spend any time digging into whether they charge more, have similar cancellation policies as other sites, etc. If this promotion intrigues you, I recommend doing your own due diligence on pricing.

If prices are equal, this might be an interesting promo on a cheap rental. It’ll only give you 20% back on up to $750 spent, so you will probably max this out with a night or two of vacation rental in many parts of the US. The good news is that all of the ancillary fees count toward the credit. I looked up a vacation rental that would have been $181 and it showed additional fees that added up to about $360. Sure enough, entering the promo code showed that I would get $72 back in travel credits (which is indeed about 20% of $360).

Again, you’ll want to price compare and remember that this only works one time per account. It is worth first clicking through a portal on your way to Booking.com. TopCashBack is currently offering 6% back or Raktuten is offering 4x / 4%.
