American Express isn’t the only one offering new transfer bonuses today as Capital One has also launched a 20% bonus to Air France/KLM Flying Blue. Despite the bonus, it’s still not a very good deal.
The Deal
- Get a 20% bonus when transferring Capital One miles to Air France/KLM Flying Blue.
Key Terms
- Expires September 30, 2021.
Quick Thoughts
While a 20% transfer bonus sounds like it could be a good deal, in this case it’s still not going to be worth it unless Capital One is the only transferable currency you hold.
That’s because Capital One normally transfers to Flying Blue on a 1,000:750 ratio, so the 20% bonus only increases that to 1,000:900. Flying Blue is one of the most promiscuous airline loyalty programs when it comes to transferable currencies and transfers on a 1,000:1,000 basis from Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards and Citi ThankYou as standard.
It gets better than that though because right now Amex is offering a 25% bonus when transferring Membership Rewards to Flying Blue. That means you’ll get 1,250 miles when transferring 1,000 Membership Rewards rather than only 900 from Capital One – a 28% difference.
