Updates to a few short term deals

SkyMall

Last night I wrote about how to leverage a SkyMall deal to get business class tickets to Australia. Before anyone could actually read that post, however, the offer sold out.

Lands’ End

Today is the day! December 2nd only, get 10 extra Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent. As several people have pointed out, you could get an extra 5 points per dollar if you pay with your Chase Freedom card.

J. Crew

December 3rd only, get 10 extra points per dollar. Double dip by signing up for the American Express Gift Chain. Thanks to SteelSnow for that tip!  And more from SteelSnow:

25% off 150, 30% off 250, FS

25% discount applies to qualifying purchases of $150 to $249.99 and 30% discount applies to qualifying purchases of $250 or more before shipping, handling and taxes are added.

Sears

December 9th, 10 points per dollar. Sears awards points for both the purchase and use of gift cards. So, you can earn 20 points per dollar by buying e-gift cards for yourself and then when they arrive about an hour later, go through the Ultimate Rewards mall a second time to use the gift cards. Use your Chase Freedom card on the initial purchase of gift cards and you’ll earn a total of 25 points per dollar! Thanks goes to Evan for that tip!

Kohl’s

Kohl’s will continue to offer 10 points per dollar through the Ultimate Rewards mall until the end of the year. Multiple people have reported success in double dipping by buying Kohl’s gift cards and then using them through the UR mall. Again, use your Chase Freedom card to up the total to 25 points per dollar! Also note this 20% off promo code: HOLLY20

Chase Freedom Card Notes

I don’t yet have the Freedom card, but it offers some great bonus opportunities. It has revolving categories in which you will earn 5 points per dollar at certain merchants. The categories change each quarter and you must sign up each time. Also note that the 5 points per dollar is only good for up to $1500 of spend each quarter. I also have my eye on the Chase Ink Bold now that it offers 5 points per dollar for Office Supply purchases. That will open many opportunities in the future! Stay tuned for more about that.

Has anyone had experience with Restaurant.com in the UR mall? They offer 20 UR pts/$. You buy discount cards for participating restaurants which gives up to 50% discounts on food purchases. Alcohol and gratuities usually not included. The site sells R.com gift cards too so perhaps you can double dip and get 40 UR pts/$ ?? I checked and there are 27 participating restaurants within a 20 mile radius of my zip. On the Chase UR Mall site they are offering the additional promo –$3 for most $25 Restaurant Gift Certificates! Use promo code SNOW at checkout. By the way, I have nothing to do with R.com

snuggliestbear

Actually the Kohl’s deal would be 30 pts per dollar with a Freedom card – Chase is offering 10% cash back on Kohl’s purchases this quarter, not just the standard 5%.

FrequentMiler

Snugliestbear: wow, that is truly awesome. Thanks for the tip! I am really regretting going for the Chase Marriott deal instead of the Freedom on my last cc churn!

Steelsnow

Typo in the Khol’s heading above – made me laugh though! Keep up the good work with the posts and deal updates!
Anyone try Land’s End to see if their gift cards rewarded points prior to today (the language on UR Mall says no, but like people are reporting on Kohl’s, perhaps it does?

steve

i think it lets u only do 5k in one shot online , so is there any just doing it multiple times through ur to take advantage next week

steve

yea but question does sears allow it. so 20-25 pts without buying anything. i have nothing to buy like u and this way u can go bigger than just merchandise

FrequentMiler

steve: No, neither Sears nor Kohl’s allow buying gift cards with gift cards online.

steve

u should be able to buy an egiftcard and then u when u receive it buy another giftcard with it . easy double dip

FrequentMiler

Steve: that would indeed be easy, but most stores don’t allow it.
