This is just a quick note for anyone seeking US Airways elite status through the Preferred Status Trial program (see “30,000 miles to nowhere. Let’s do it!”)…
US Airways is offering an incredible fare between Las Vegas and Philadelphia (in either direction). Round trip goes as low as $75. Or, find one-way flights for only $41! Hurry, though, these fares won’t last long. These fares are available for various dates in January and February. Some same-day turnarounds are possible.
UPDATE: Deal is dead
I jumped onto Google Flights to find the fares and I clicked through to US Airways to book them. So far, I’ve booked three round-trips. See also: Bet You Didn’t Know: The magic of Google Flights.
Good luck!
Hat Tip: The Flight Deal
[…] 30,000 miles were flown back and forth between Philadelphia and Las Vegas thanks to a fantastic $75 round-trip fare sale. When that was done, I had secured top tier status for 2015 (good through February […]
[…] six mileage runners on this flight who, like me, were upgraded to first class. Remember those $75 round trip fares I wrote about in November? Yeah, we all paid about that much for these […]
I live in Vegas and just spontaneously decided to do the US Airways trial and booked 6 round trips to PHL. Thanks for the heads up but, wow, that is going to be a lot of flying in a one month period. I also have two business trips in the same timeframe so it’s going to be interesting month.
Lucky you! I have spent all morning trying to figure out how to get to Philly, LOL.
Guess I’ll wait for a DC fare, I can get from DC to Nassau through Philly one-way for $99… but then loose the second leg of the trip.
That’s a really good deal on the LV flights.

I live in Philly and can get to the airport by train. I did these flights last winter when the fares were $128 (and made AA platinum this year).
Nathan,
Are you in Philly or are you driving/ flying in from somewhere?
I am trying to figure out if I can get to Philly from DC area… 7x in the months of Jan/Feb… supposed to be a bad winter.
Would you recommend doing the trial preferred if you’re already an AA platinum for 2015? What are the benefits of going for it?
Not necessarily. The advantage of going for it is to get the extra benefits of top tier status such as 8 systemwide upgrade certificates.
