Avianca LifeMiles is offering a 125% bonus on purchased miles, today only. This brings the price per mile to 1.47 cents per mile. That’s a good rate, but probably not worth buying unless you have a specific use in mind. Anyway, if you’re interested here’s the link.
Example:
Purchase 10,000 miles, get 12,500 free. Total cost: $330. Cost per mile: $330 / 22,500 = 1.47 cents per mile.

What is the award space available to Avianca? I have a need to use miles to Australia for next DEC ’15 (which means I’d book late JAN). I’ve got $$ ready to pounce on a miles deal…but I would prefer to ENSURE i can redeem them for a flight. What I’m gathering is that I’d need 90k to fly R/T to AUS on United or Air NZ (probably United since Air NZ awards aren’t nearly as plentiful)
Avianca has most Star Alliance flights available, so if you see availability on United.com, you can probably book with Avianca. Big issue though: you have to book entirely in one cabin. That is, you can’t book some segments in business and some in coach (or first). Try searching from Avianca’s own website.
THX 4 the info. Not concerned about cabin…this is all economy for my family to get to my sisters wedding in Adelaide, AU. I’ll probably have to jump on this deal, esp since there’s no fuel surcharges on Avianca award tickets. Thanks again.
