The cash back portal, TopCashBack, has increased cash back rates for American Express business gift cards to 2.25% for today only (3/6/2015). The next best rate is 1.5%.
Update: A reader has written in to warn that he was charged a cash advance fee when purchasing Amex gift cards with his Barclay’s US Airways Mastercard. We only have one data point, but please use caution.
If you don’t already have a TopCashBack account, you can find a signup link for TopCashBack and many other cool things here.
Notes
- Do not use a promo code to reduce gift card fees or for free shipping since that will invalidate your cash back (the Premium Shipping Plan is fine, though).
- Do not buy denominations higher than $2,000 (see: $2K denomination limit on Amex gift card cash back)
- Do not pay with Citibank credit cards since they sometimes charge cash advance fees.

What’s the best reward card to use for this?
Did anyone get approved for the business cards on 3/6/15 and not get credit on through topcashback? I also ordered the trial version of the $99 a year shipping. That might be the issue.
I had three orders track and approved. They haven’t shipped yet. Hope that helps.
Good to hear, I will make sure to follow up with topcashback to see what is going on. Thanks!
I had ordered one during increased promotion and was declined today 🙁
Greg,
Does the Wells Fargo 5% cash back for 6 months card post as a purchase?
I don’t know for sure, by why would you be interested? That card only earns 5% for gas, grocery, and drugstore purchases.
Greg,
Also any issues that you can think of with Capital One?
Thanks in advance

Long time reader, first time post. How does one personalize the business version of the gift card? I am only seeing personalize option under personal cards.
Use the ‘Customized message’ option. Ignore the first line message (as that is preconfigured for ‘happy birthday’ types etc.) . For second line use your name. It will arrive looking just like a personalized card.
Greg,
Do you have any thoughts on the recent reports that Arrival and a few other have been coded as CA?
Just bought some back on 2/27 that invoiced on 3/5 that went through as a purchase but not sure if something has changed since then. Seems like it has to do with 3/2/2015. Glicth?
Thanks in advance.
We posted a warning about this. I have no idea if it was a temporary glitch or still a problem.
Saw it thanks. Replied before you posted.
Have a good weekend.
I dont have a business. Is it ok if I use my SSN for TIN to buy Amex giftcards? Will I receive 1099 from Amex?
I honestly don’t know the answer to your question but why would you get a 1099 from anyone simply for buying gift cards? It’s not any form of income.
Yes you can use your SSN.
No, you won’t receive a 1099
What does it mean that denomination can’t exceed 2000?
If I bought 2 cards each 1000, would that be fine?
It means cashback isn’t paid on cards ordered that have denominations higher than $2K. $1K and $2K cards are fine.
Yes 2 $1000 cards would be fine. 2 (or more) $2000 cards would be fine. One or more $3000 cards will not result in cash back.
is US Bank CC safe to use?
Yes, it should be.
What is the restriction in using AMEX business gift card?
I’m not sure what you mean. The payout is higher if you buy business gift cards rather than personal gift cards
Can u load Redbirds with these.
Yes but some clerks may check the name on your card so it makes sense to buy personalized Amex gift cards
