This week Staples is running a promotion offering a $20 Visa card via rebate with the purchase of $250 in Visa gift cards. Next week they will be running a similar offer, although with Mastercard instead.
The Deal
From 3/22/15 to 3/28/15 you can receive a $20 Staples gift card via Easy Rebate with the purchase of $300 or more in Mastercard gift cards.
Generally with these deals it is best to use a Chase Ink card to earn 5X Ultimate Rewards points or an Amex SimplyCash card to earn 5% cash back at Staples.
Differences
You will notice that the rebate on this week’s deal comes in the form of a Visa gift card while next week’s comes as a Staples gift card.

[…] point packages, which means they’ll be snapped up faster than $200 Mastercard gift cards during a Staples rebate week like this one. Seriously, guys, at least leave a couple on the gift card rack for me, will […]
mea culpa………here in northern CA there is nothing in the store……nothing on the receipt given in store……3 hours later an email comes with the rebate info………..not very well communicated……….by Staples anyway……..
It appears you are in error on this……I just bought $400 GC thinking you were correct and the store just forgot to post the rebate……….no mention of it anywhere on receipt or Staples website……..you drank some bad kool aid I think……….
The screenshot in this post is taken directly from the Staples website. Additionally, you can find the deal on the 3rd page of the Staples weekly ad.

[…] special thank you goes out to The Frequent Miler for posting about this […]
My experience is that one can no longer use a Staples gc to buy a gc…at least online.
You cannot do it online and most stores have cracked down on it.
these MasterCards come with a PIN… i assume they can be easily loaded to Serve at WMT? or is there a trick?
thx.
MasterCard GCs at WM default to credit so you need to be quick to hit the cancel button after you swipe to get the option to change to debit.
They also load fine at the kiosks if you have one available.
Where can I find a PIN for my MC? Thanks
The pin is printed on a piece of paper and put in the packaging. Some packages don’t have a pin. If you can’t find the pin then simply call 1-866-952-5653 to set a pin via the telephone.
Hi,
I wonder how will you use this $20 Staples gift card? Can you reload the Redbird or buy redeem it when buying VGC? Thanks.
You could use it to purchase things you need at Staples or you could sell it to a gift card reseller for $17.20. Even if you did that, you would still make a profit.
you can buy FASER paper… Staples has it every week.
submit online, you’ll then get a check in the mail few weeks later.
plus you’ll have the paper…
Use it to buy more gift cards! In my experience most cashiers don’t know the ‘no gift card for gift cards’ policy so if you keep the purchase under $500 bucks so a manager isn’t required you’re fine.
Wow this is really lucky for you. In San Jose, CA the people working at Staples look at me with distain just for buying “only” giftcards when I approach the checkout line.
If anyone knows of a store that takes GC as payment in that area please let me know.
