Follow along here!

IHG Rewards Club has one of the best co-branded credit cards on the market when it comes to benefits. The card comes with a 10% rebate on points redemptions, Platinum elite status and a free night certificate each year. Unfortunately the current best public offer only gives 60K points as a sign-up bonus, but there may be a way to do much better.

A Better Offer

IHG Rewards Club 80K offer

Greg the Frequent Miler has confirmed that the trick he wrote about last year still works. If you currently have elite status with IHG Rewards Club you may be able to find a sign-up offer giving 80,000 points and a $50 statement credit. We believe this offer works for elites, but cannot guarantee it will work for everyone.

To get the offer to show up:

  • Login to your IHG Rewards Club account.
  • Search for a hotel.
  • Go through the booking process and click on the ad (shown above) to apply.

Note: You do not need to complete the booking. The ad will show up before the process is complete.

An Easy Way to Gold Status

IHG Rewards Club 80K offer

If you don’t currently have IHG Rewards Club elite status, there is a new relatively easy way to get it. IHG Rewards Club has launched their Inn Business Promotion which gives Gold status after completing one stay at a Holiday Inn within 90 days of registering.

To get Gold status:

  • Register for Inn Business and stay at a Holiday Inn®within 90 days of registering to become eligible.

Note that the Inn Business promotion ends December 31, 2016 or until 15,000 registrants meet the offer eligibility requirements.

Putting It Together

Theoretically you could participate in the Inn Business Promotion and earn Gold elite status and then use that elite status to get the better offer for the IHG Rewards Club credit card. That isn’t guaranteed of course, but may be worth a shot for some.

Do you expect there will be an increased IHG sign up bonus again? Trying to decide if I should get the card now with the 60k bonus or wait.

I received mine just recently on a 60K deal link. Any chance of getting 80K out of it as my first statement date is not until September?

Greg The Frequent Miler

Thanks for the link, but when I press Apply Now it goes to an error screen.
Yes, it’s definitely worth a try sending a secure message, but I’ve heard mixed results with this card.

LANCE WINTER

I already have this card (award points awarded about 10 months ago). Does anyone know if this card requires 24 months in between applications? Or have people been able to churn?

mommafrica

If the card itself has Plat, then why would you need to sign up for Gold?
