Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is almost done! The last two weeks Greg, Nick, and Stephen competed to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines. But who completed the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?

There are some fantastic business class airfares from New York to Naples, Italy, with prices around $1860.  Low-cost carrier Meridiana is pricing around $1550, but true business class on Air France (on either a 777 or A380) is coming in at $1855 round trip.  Alitalia is available at $1865:

Sample dates: June 7th to June 13th -- but these fares seem to be widely available.
Sample dates: June 7th to June 13th — but these fares seem to be widely available.

Dates look widely available throughout summer and into early fall.  These flights appear to be bookable via Amex Membership Rewards, meaning that Business Platinum cardholders could pay with points and get 50% back as Greg explained in this morning’s post.  Since these are business class fares, you are not limited to your chosen carrier. After the rebate, it would mean a net cost of about 93,000 points round trip. And you will earn miles to boot!

According to wheretocredit.com, I believe that the Air France flights will credit to Flying Blue, Delta, or Alaska at 125% of distance flown before any status bonuses — or about 11,000 miles earned on the round trip.

Alitalia flights appear to credit to Delta at 150%, Flying Blue at 200%, or Etihad at 300%.  Crediting to Etihad would earn 2/3 the miles required to fly round trip in business class from New York to Brussels if you can find award space.  Two business class trips to Europe for 102,000 Amex Membership Rewards points (93,000 for this ticket + 9K additional transferred to Etihad for the Brussels award) would be amazing if you can make it work.

Naples is a great jumping off point for the Amalfi Coast or Pompeii…

Though truth be told, Naples Pizza Festival might have been my favorite part:

For the record, that’s June 17th to the 25th this year. Flights are available :-).

[…] Business Class Flights to Italy for around $1860:  Less expensive business class flights are tougher to come by.  Depending on the airline and the plane, business class could be a very comfortable, lie flat seat, which will allow you to get some rest on the flight so that you could hit the ground running once you get to your destination.  This is a good deal if you’re planning a trip to Italy.  Act fast!
