Frequent Miler's latest team challenge, Million Mile Madness, is happening now! Follow us as Greg, Nick, and Stephen compete to earn 1 Million SAS miles by flying 15 airlines before November 23rd. Who will complete the challenge with the most Speed, Affordability, and Style?
Checking out this morning’s Frequent Miler Portal Alerts, we can see that American Airlines is offering a really good payout on Apple products today at 7X American Airlines AAdvantage miles per $1. This could be stacked with the current shopping portal bonus for up to 11 miles per dollar if you were to spend exactly $500. That’s an awesome return on Apple products.

Quick Thoughts
Seven miles per dollar at Apple is excellent. We can see that this is just under the 15-month historical high mileage payout from looking at the history at CashBackMonitor.com.
Even if you only value American Airlines miles at 1c each, this payout beats the 6% 15-month high cash back payout. That said, Discover Deals is currently offering 5% back — if you are in the first year of a Discover IT card, that would be doubled to 10% at the end of year 1.
However, sweetening the pot on the mileage payout is the current Back-to-School shopping portal bonus being offered by American. If you were to spend exactly $500 during the bonus period (which ends tomorrow), you would earn an additional 2,000 bonus miles. Between today’s 7X payout and those bonus miles, you would be at a total of 11X on a purchase of exactly $500. If you value American miles at anything above a penny each, that is an fantastic return on Apple products.
Bottom line
Note the restrictions in the key terms, but if you have an Apple purchase to make, it’s hard to beat today’s return. It’s not often that we see such a large payout on Apple products — and stacking with the back-to-school promotion only makes it better.
I just saw this, 24 hours too late, and was about to be sad and disappointed that I had missed an awesome deal. I mean, I have been flirting with dropping a bunch of money needlessly on a new ipad, but figured I’d wait until something compelling came along.
Then I saw this would generate up to 11 AA miles…
AA miles are worthless crap…I’m sitting on almost 2 million of those and can never find a reasonable redemption. I would think twice before crossing the street to pick up 1000 AA miles for free. Feh.
I think I’ll wait for something that’s actually compelling before getting that ipad…
