There are a number of current gift card deals running that offer savings at places like Best BuyCabela’sSafeway gas stations, and many popular restaurants. Click the images below for links.

Best Buy: buy $150 in eGift cards, get a $15 savings code

Expires: 3/3/18

Quick Thoughts: Be aware that the $15 savings code will be emailed on 3/18/18 and will only be valid from 3/18/18-3/31/18. There is a maximum of three $150 egift card purchases per customer — or just buy a single $450 gift card and you should get the three $15 savings codes (I’ve done this with previous deals). As Doctor of Credit mentions, paying with an Ink Business Preferred is a good move here.

Simon Malls: Buy $50 in select gift cards, get a $10 Visa Gift Card

Expires: 3/11/18

Quick thoughts: Check your mall on the Simon Malls home page to be sure this promotion is being offered. I found a link on the main mall page by scrolling through the offers, but I noticed that not all malls were promoting it. As seen in the image above, this one is good for a $10 Visa gift card with a purchase of $50 or more in Buca di Beppo, The Children’s Place, Domino’s, JCPenney, or Lane Bryant gift cards. Note that you can only get one $10 Visa gift card per transaction, so you’ll have to split it up into multiple transactions if you’re looking for more than one.

Cabela’s: $100 physical gift card for $80

Quick Thoughts: There isn’t currently a resale angle on this one as far as I’m aware, but it’s a nice way to save 20% if you have a purchase to make at Cabela’s or a gift to give the outdoors enthusiast.

Speedway gas stations: $100 physical gift card for $94

Quick Thoughts: While not as cheap as these gas cards used to be, they are still an OK deal at 6% off plus your credit card rewards.

Other eBay gift card deals:

Bottom line

It’s always nice to save money that you would otherwise spend. Gift cards like these can also sometimes come in handy for meeting minimum spend by essentially pre-paying for gift card credit that know you’ll spend at a merchant you frequent. That said, Amex has certainly been discouraging gift card spend for the purposes of minimum spend requirements.
