The Radisson Blu Mall of America is running a 5th Birthday Promotion that looks pretty cool: at 3pm Central Time on June 14th, they will offer a flash sale with $5 and $99 gift certificates valid for a single night in a Superior Room. I’m sure that getting a $5 certificate will be akin to winning the lottery, but the good news is that the certificates will be valid until June 14th, 2019.
The Deal
- Radisson Blu Mall of America will offer gift certificates for $5 and $99 – either will be valid for a one-night stay in a Superior Room through June 14, 2019
- Deal goes live at 3pm Central Time on June 14, 2018; at that time, call the Radisson Blu Mall of America Contest Line at 952.851.4036
Key Terms
- Callers will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last
- Blackout dates apply
- Gift certificate cannot be combined with any other discount, promotion or offer
- Limited to one per person
- Goes live at 3pm Central Time on June 14, 2018
Quick Thoughts
This deal will likely be somewhat like winning the lottery, though when the Conrad Chicago ran a similar promotion last year I was able to reserve rooms at the higher promotional rate after continuously calling for a while. I wouldn’t count on success, but it’s worth a phone call if you’re around the phone at 3pm Central on June 14th.
I actually stayed at the Radisson Blu Mall of America last February and had a terrific stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable and a nice little respite from the hustle and bustle of the mall below. I imagine it is especially useful to have access to a room for a nap, shower, and relaxation if you have a partner who shops ’till you drop. I’d definitely stay there again.
Keep in mind that if you are lucky enough to get through before they run out, you can only buy one certificate per person and there will be blackout dates. My assumption is that availability for the certificate will match award availability. While the terms state that the gift certificate cannot be combined with any other discount, promotion, or offer, I would think you could stack it with some award nights before or after or certificates earned from spend on the Radisson Rewards Visa cards.
There are also a number of other promotions going on including Blu Velvet Birthday Cake available in the hotel restaurant and a “Celebrate your Unibirthday with Blu” package that includes a room, a couple of slices of Blu Velvet cake, a pinata, and party hats for $209. Find more information on that package here.
I’ll go into this deal with low expectations, but I set a reminder on my phone to call on June 14th because I’ve got nothing to lose but a few percent of my phone battery hitting redial.
Data point: Called June 14th 3pm CDT. Eventually got through after 28 redials (3:07pm) . Wife got through after 50 redials (3:15pm). We each got a $99 cert. Came to $113 with tax. I asked how many certs there were. There were 30 $5 and 30 $99 certs.
A room advance purchase standard member rate is approx $185-$225 including tax depending on the dates and if 2 queen or single king bed.
I actually won this contest for the $5 voucher. I was so surprised.
Nice! Congrats. I totally forgot about it myself.
according to the twin cities biz mag, there were only 30 certificates for $5.
Tried calling right at 3pm, busy tone for the next 5 minutes of calling. decided after that that its not worth it

It’s unfortunate that we don’t know how many $5 rooms there are, as that would be useful in assessing our chances of getting one.
Allow me to help you assess your chances: infinitesimially small. 🙂
I’m sure it is extremely limited and it will get tons of press. Like I said, go in with low expectations and be thrilled if you get it. It’s like winning the lottery. You’ve gotta be in it to win it…but it’s not a likely thing.
“3pm CST on June 14th” So is it really Central Standard Time, or is it CDT, Central Daylight Time, which is what we are on now?
Oops. I edited the other places where I had written CST to say “Central time” — looks like I missed one. Thanks!
Very confusing, “… they will offer a flash sale with $5 and $99 gift certificates valid for a single night in a Superior Room.” I’m sorry, but what does this mean?
Sorry – didn’t mean for it to be confusing.
They will offer certificates for $5. I assume those will sell out in seconds. Then they will offer certificates for $99. I assume those will last for minutes.
Either certificate is valid for a single night in a “Superior Room” (the room category name for a standard room).
So if you’re lucky, you will be able to get a certificate for a single night stay. It will either cost $5 or it will cost $99 depending on how quickly you get through on the phone.
LOL, it’s not you … it;s been a long week and Friday is not here yet!
