A great use of your Discover Cashback Bonus can be redeeming it for gift cards as they always come with a bonus of $5+. For a limited time, there’s a potentially better deal than usual as Discover’s offering $20 Nike gift cards for only $15 when redeeming your cashback bonus.
The Deal
- Redeem Discover Cashback Bonus for $20 Nike gift cards and only pay $15 per card.
Key Terms
- Gift cards are delivered by mail 7–10 business days after order completion, but please allow up to 4 weeks.
- They can be used for both online and in-store purchases.
Quick Thoughts
You’ve always been able to use your Discover Cashback Bonus for Nike gift cards, but those are normally $25 cards for $20. This deal therefore increases the bonus from 25% to 33%.
The downside to this deal is that they’re physical gift cards rather than the digital gift cards that are normally on offer. That means you’ll have to wait more than a week for the cards and possibly up to four weeks. If you’re planning on reselling the cards, that also means you’ll have to scratch off the PIN and manually type the card number and PIN, rather than simply being able to copy and paste those details like you can with digital gift cards.
The good thing is that reselling the Nike gift cards can make redeeming your Discover Cashback Bonus a profitable venture. For example, ABC Gift Cards is currently paying $16 for $20 Nike gift cards. 80% isn’t a great rate, but it still means you make $1 per card.
Rather than redeeming that for cash, you can exchange each $16 for other gift cards with a bonus. Amazon’s one such option and would net you $16.80. That means you can indirectly buy Amazon gift cards with a 12% bonus when redeeming your Discover Cashback Bonus.
That could be a great option if you shop frequently on Amazon and don’t have any gift card reselling relationships. If you are a bulk seller, check to see if your buyer accepts $20 Nike gift cards as some may only accept cards with a balance of $25+.
There’s no expiry date for this offer, but it’s unlikely to last long as it’s listed as ‘Nike – Special’.
