Key Terms

- Bonus miles will be awarded by Virgin Atlantic when the transfer is complete
Quick Thoughts
This can make for some excellent deals if you find availability. Tim just reported yesterday on some Delta availability to Brussels that effectively costs just 39,000 points one-way with a transfer bonus like this. He had reported that deal as one-day-only since the Amex transfer bonus was ending — but now you’ve got the opportunity to continue to hunt for a deal like that and maximize the many Virgin Atlantic sweet spots including to book Delta flights at great rates. With Japan now reopening to tourists, I imagine many of us will be hunting like madmen for some ANA first class seats.
Note that terms state that Virgin Atlantic will award the bonus miles once the transfer is complete, so I think you won’t see this bonus reflected when you go to transfer points but rather when they land in your Virgin Atlantic account.
Yeah….VX miles are useless if there are no flights too book on ANA. Even with Japan relaxing their entry requirements, there’s no guarantee ANA will resume pre-pandemic trans-Pacific flight operations, which means you will be hard pressed to find any J or F reward flights on NA-Japan routes. There are currently NONE for 2023.
ANA is the bright spot in the program, but they’re pretty decent for Delta One suites, Air France and KLM to Europe, right? They might not be the absolute best, but at a 30% bonus you very well could get the best redemption.
