Swagbucks is advertising a deal to donate $15 to Sierra Club and get 6,000 Swagbucks (worth $60 or possibly a little more depending on how you redeem them). That’s a half-truth: to get this deal, I think you’ll really need to donate at least $30, but it looks like you’ll actually earn 6,500 Swagbucks and thus still come out ahead or perhaps get the chance to donate more than you otherwise would have thanks to the rebate.

Quick Thoughts

I don’t know who foots the bill in terms of providing the Swagbucks for this deal, but that certainly may be something to consider if it’s the organization paying out in the hopes of getting more donations. I’m not sure how that works.

To earn the 6,000 Swagbucks (~$60), you’ll need to sign up for $15 monthly donations. The Swagbucks terms indicate that you must remain a member for 35 days, so I take that to mean that you’ll probably need to donate twice for a total of $30 in order to get the 6,000 Swagbucks. You should then end up with an additional 500 Swagbucks for the second donation for a total of about $65 back. The terms indicate that donations of less than $15 don’t count, so I don’t think you could set it to donate $7.50 per month to satisfy this deal. It might be possible to sign up for the $15 monthly donation and then reach out to the Sierra Club to reduce your ongoing donation amount (I have no idea whether or not this can be done). I’m assuming a minimum of two $15 donations and this is still a $35 money-maker for those who cancel (or for those who want to support the organization it could be viewed as 5 months of rebated donations after you’ve earned the full 7500 Swagbucks).

That is a relatively small win, but it is one that doesn’t require many hoops apart from needing to cancel the Sierra Club membership via email if you are so inclined. I believe the email address to do so is membership.services@sierraclub.org or member.care@sierraclub.org. You may need your receipt number based on comments I’ve read on past deals, so I recommend keeping a screen shot.

Still no SB for me after 40 days. What’s the best way to contact SB? I have nothing showing in my pending points so can’t contact help for a specific transaction. I submitted a general support comment using the bubble in the lower right, but it says it can take 30 days for them to get back to you.

Update: received my 6000 SB yesterday 02/11/2021

Word of caution here to those who did this deal… Terms of the Swagbucks offer state that you need to be a member for 35 days.. Do not assume that your ‘membership’ starts after paying the first subscription.. in my case, the membership started the 1st of the following month, i.e. 01/01/2021.. so I am assuming I need to stay a member at least until 02/05/2021 to satisfy terms of the offer..

TLDR – Dont cancel membership 35 days from when you made the first payment, check your membership start date

Skor

yeah, difficult to tell because the Swagbucks don’t pend. Here is what I mean (this is my from online account page):

Recent DonationsDate Amount Type1/20/2021 $15.00 the Wilderness Guardian Program
12/16/2020 $0.00 Membership
12/8/2020 $15.00 the Wilderness Guardian Program

Member since 1/1/2021

Did anyone else’s account disappear? I signed up in December and got an email confirming my “$15 per month pledge,” but a second payment was never taken and when I try to login, they say that there isn’t an account with my email address. Strange. I might have just wasted $15 toward a good cause without making any money! I’m disgusted with myself! 😉

The second payment will be charged but not exactly 30 days after the first payment, maybe a bit later. Read my comment above, I had a similar question. Eventually I was charged the second payment, I think on day 40 since first signing up for it.

Skor

Did anyone get charged for their 2nd monthly donation? I signed up on December 9th and was expecting the charge to hit either January 9th or 10th.. but that hasn’t happened yet.
Terms for the Swagbucks bonus say that you need to remain member for 35 days.. wondering if the charge does not hit by January 13th or January 14th, then perhaps I can cancel and still get the 6000 Swagbucks (as against 6500). Will not know until the 90 days are up.

I did this a few years ago. Do you think I can do it again ?

Greg

I would not recommend doing this deal on Swagbucks. The donation has to be set up for regular and repeating intervals so unless you set yourself a reminder to cancel at just the right time then you are stuck paying more in donations. Also, cancelling is difficult and requires you to email Sierra Club and wait for a response which for me took several weeks. Was not a pleasant experience. There are plenty of other better offers on Swagbucks that payout instantly and dont require a 90 day wait period (avoid ones that don’t track). I suggest the Firstleaf wine club deal through Revenue Universe. It pays 3400 SB instantly and requires a purchase of $32 and gets you 6 bottles of wine delivered FedEx within a few days. You can cancel easily on firstleaf’s site through a few simple clicks. I also have had good luck with the food delivery subscriptions through Revenue Universe (on Swagbucks Discover). They also pay instantly about 4000 SB for Home Chef and cost about $30 for the basic plan which you can cancel within 7 days of ordering.

Can you get a tax deductible receipt?

Mrredskin

Did you research the Sierra club and their stances on issues? If that is the way your political agenda swings, then great. Otherwise, I’d think there would be a good number of us that would absolutely never consider donating to this “organization”.

mrredskin

you’re posting a “deal” to donate to an org with a strong political agenda. That is absolutely necessary info, here.

DotsTheWarlock

Check out the same offer at mypoints. It’s more profitable. 8k on first donation, 2500 for second month. You lose some in the conversion, but still net more

Matthew

SB still comes out ahead at the maximum redemptions possible (SB monthly bonus), which translates into $4.71 more if doing just two donations. With the third donation, mypoints comes out ahead.

Gaurav

You could redeem mypoints to UA miles as well, though not at a great rate if I remember correctly
