$50 travel credit for recent (pre-6/23) Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders

23

While most of the credit card world has been focused today on the Chase Sapphire Reserve cards, many recent Sapphire Preferred applicants received an email today indicating that they will receive an extra $50 travel credit this year.

As you can see above, this one-time $50  credit is good toward any Chase Travel℠ booking. The email is going out today those who have opened the Chase Sapphire preferred card within the past year.

The subject line of the email was “Introducing Points Boost on Chase Travel”. That email explained the new change to the value of points redeemed through Chase Travel and the timeline for the changes. You can read more about Points Boost and the timeline for existing cardholders in this post.

To redeem this travel credit, eligible cardholders just need to book their itinerary through Chase Travel by June 23, 2026. To be clear, this is in addition to the Chase Sapphire Preferred card’s annual $50 hotel booking credit and this extra $50 credit only applies to those who have opened their Sapphire Preferred card within the last year (presumably between June 23, 2024 and June 22, 2025).

While this won’t be a huge consolation to those who were counting on the card’s previous structure for redeeming against paid travel, but at the same time, this credit and the annual hotel booking credit combine to mitigate most of the first-year fee, which represents a decent gesture for those who might feel disappointed about the changes.

I got an email about the change, but the $50 credit section is missing. Is that what other people saw?

Kelly

Thank you FM for reporting this. Had one last night to book in Europe and you just saved me $100 on a cash booking. (CSP) Always appreciate your thorough posts!

Reed

I received this email for both my CSP and CIP even though I opened my CSP in early june. When I try a dummy booking under my CSP it doesn’t come up, but when I do a dummy booking under CIP, it does. *shrug*

Have both Ink Preferred and Sapphire Preferred but didn’t get emails. Fortunately, tried a dummy booking on Chase Travel and happy to report the $50 promo credit is there! Expires June 2026. Thanks FM!

Anna

I didn’t receive this, though I opened CSP 5/2025. I have a potentially paranoid fear that I don’t get any marketing-type emails from Chase, despite doing whatever I can to opt in, so that might just be a me problem.

DMoney

We got this on the Ink Prererred as well. Opened in Sept 2024. Surprisingly, I never received email for that one, but received email for the 2 CSPs we had opened in April 2025. That’s an easy $150 from Chase for doing nothing.

How do you know if you have the promotion multiple times? Will it show multiple promotions on your account? When I go to Chase travel and do a dummy booking I see only one promotion. (I recently opened the CSP and I have the ink preferred that I opened last year.)

Ben

Ha, I opened mine in May 2024, so it looks like I was just slightly too early in opening card. Oh well.

I wonder how many people will be like myself and skim over it thinking it’s just advertising the normal $50 credit. Saw the email but would have missed it completely without the travel blogs picking it up.

This $50 is NOT good against any travel booking. It only works for hotel not flights.

It should be noted that the credit is more of a coupon applied during checkout and not a statement credit.

Greg The Frequent Miler

It shows up upon checkout with any kind of travel purchase. It shows as “one promotion available” and it removes $50 from the total cost. I found it for flights, cars, and hotels.

How do I differentiate this “bonus” $50 credit from the $50 annual hotel credit for the CSP? I recently got this card and received the same email indicating an extra $50 travel credit. However when I checkout (for a dummy hotel booking >$100) in the chase travel portal, I only see a single “$50 credit”. I thought I’d see both ($50 x 2). or is the $50 annual hotel credit a statement credit after booking/paying and not something that will show up on checkout (as opposed to this bonus credit)?

kayexalate

Ok I think I understand. this bonus credit is a $50 off coupon. the regular $50 credit is a statement credit after booking. So to leverage both in 1 booking, a hotel stay of >$100 would utilize both credits. If I book a $95 hotel stay – $50 bonus credit, making the final charge $45, will that still trigger the annual $50 hotel statement credit, or does it need to be a minimum of $50 charged

Jimmy

The terms for the credit I got don’t limit it to hotels unless I am missing something. I think that limitation is only for the normal $50 annual CSP credit.

2 new preferred in May, SUB’s met, neither got this offer (yet).

Also wondering if they’re going to do anything similar for the Reserve..

Cheers

DMoney

Try a dummy booking through Chase travel and see if this shows under “promotions” before final payment. We also have two CSPs opened in April and got emails for both. But I also have a CIP opened in Sept last year and that one also shows the $50 promotional credit, even though i never received email for that explicitly.

bulls_fan

Thanks, D!

I have that on my PFD but not my reserve (will check P2/3/4 next time I’m booking a hotel.

Sure wish this worked on airfare!

So in theory it would be $100 a hotel booking with CSP.

Sweet we both got the CSP bonus again 100K April/May and upgraded two Freedom (old CSP) to CSR 6/16

Inspite of the coupon-izing (actual liove the game and strive for Zero Breakage).

Chase has been working overtime on the coupons – got both of the recent roll-out with UA card refresh (Quest & UA Biz) in March.

But Chase has been increasing the value of card benefits and the free money (or equivalent goods) with Instacrt promotion ($1,750 per year with Instacart credits (we do free pickup on $35 orders)

I realize that not everybody loves the game, coupons or live in an area that they have limited/no options to take advantage of the monthly/ quarterly/semi-annual credits.

I got that on my Chase Ink Preferred. (Fortunately my credit lasts until 2026…!)
