British Airways is offering 50% off economy class award flights for travel between September 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019. Some routes are quite cheap in terms of the number of Avios required — such as New York to London for just 6,500 Avios one-way or London to the Seychelles for 8,125 Avios one-way — though you’ll want to look for originating cities with low fuel surcharges to get the best deals.

  • Travel September 1, 2018 to May 31, 2018

Quick Thoughts

Keep in mind that British Airways adds high fuel surcharges on many flights. However, if you originate in an area with low or no fuel surcharges, you can get some steals in terms of the number of Avios needed for a flight. A route like New York to London only costs 6500 Avios, but with ~$180 in surcharges, it’s not a terribly good deal. You’ll want to look for routes to and from other destinations for the best deals. This sale is only good on British Airways flights.

It’s hard to beat less than 10K + $53 for a flight this long.

Since British Airways Avios is a Chase transfer partner, Amex transfer partner, and an SPG transfer partner, it is pretty easy to put together the points you need for an award ticket.

Looks like an example given was HKG… I’m sure there are others.

“if you originate in an area with low or no fuel surcharges”

Which are? Some examples would make this article useful.
