Strawberry Hotels (formerly Nordic Choice) Summer Pass is back

6

For years, Nordic Choice Hotels ran a summer promotion that sold a pass that could get you great savings on lodging. Nordic Choice has since rebranded to Strawberry Hotels, but they’re continuing to offer summer passes, which could be a very good deal if you’ll be traveling throughout Scandinavia this Summer.

The Deal

Key Terms

  • Valid on stays June 18-August 24, 2026.
  • You can cancel and rebook a hotel night until 16:00 on the scheduled day of arrival.
  • Booking must be in the passholder’s name.
  • The passholder can bring a guest to stay in the same room if the room is booked for two people. If you need accommodation for more than two people, you will be charged for an extra bed or may be required to pay for a larger room that can accommodate it.

Quick Thoughts

In contrast to past years, the 2026 Summer Pass has two tiers: a “budget” pass that costs €450 and gives access to 76 hotels, and a “standard” pass that costs €600 and includes nights at 140 hotels, almost double what you get on the budget pass. It’s worth taking a close look at both lists, given the huge difference in available properties. For instance, the nearly full-board Home Hotels brand is only found on the standard list; having access to evening supper and afternoon cakes, coffee, and tea can be a huge savings in Scandinavia in the Summer.

At the time of writing, €450 is ~$530 while €600 is ~$710, or an average of $106 or $142 per night, respectively. Staying in Scandinavia in the summer can be expensive, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you can get good value by buying one of these passes instead of paying the regular cash price for a room. That said, if you’re planning to stay somewhere where Strawberry Hotels is an accommodation option, it’d be worth checking prices before buying one of these summer passes, in case the regular room rate is less than the relative costs per night.

Also, be sure to check the FAQs section on the offer landing page linked above if you’re seriously considering this, as it lists blackout dates that apply during the summer pass validity period. The blackout dates per hotel are broken down by city, with most only having a few nights when you can’t use the pass due to a local event.

One of the great features of these summer passes is that they include complimentary breakfast at all their brands, except Comfort Hotel Xpress. As noted previously, if you book a stay at a Home Hotels property, you’ll also get fika (coffee and cakes) and a daily evening meal included.

Strawberry also offers flexibility about how rooms are booked. For example, you can book all 5 nights consecutively at the same hotel, or split them across stays at two or more properties. You can even book up to 3 rooms at the same property if you’re traveling with a large group.

I think the euro amounts are wrong here:

They’ve sadly left out all of their best properties. I’ve got reservations at five Strawberry hotels this summer and only one, the HOBO in Helsinki, is even on the promo lists. On the bright side, I paid using Choice points purchased at $.005 each so each of my rooms cost me about the same as this promo anyway.

Also Stephen – you’ve mistyped the pass prices in the body of the article..

Kind of surprised a US hotel chain hasn’t thought of this type of promotion. Not that I want another complicated travel promo to game. 🙂

Cheaper to buy the passes in NOK than in EUR.

The eligible property list is pretty limited, so make sure you consider if the properties and their locations really are all that desirable for your wishes and consider what the going rates can be like at properties more centrally located during the summer season when the cities are mostly emptied of of a lot of locals.

Keep in mind that Strawberry Hotels has a separate rewards program from Choice Hotels. You can earn points and elite night credits when using these passes, but they will not accrue to your Choice Privileges account, rather to a Strawberry Hotels account and only if you are signed into such account when you make your purchase. This is the same set up as when they were Nordic Choice.
